    Information Specialist

    Job Summary:

    The Department of State's Comptroller and Global Financial Services Charleston (CGFS) Bureau requires an Information Specialist to provide services in the Global Systems Division, Financial Systems Operations Unit. This role involves operating domestic and overseas financial systems, including payroll, accounting, and data management.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Database Administration: Install, configure, and upgrade Oracle database software; monitor and optimize performance for high data availability and security; implement and maintain database security, including user creation and privilege assignment.
    • Database Maintenance: Plan and implement backup and recovery strategies, manage storage structures and capacity planning, develop and test backup and recovery plans, and ensure compliance with database vendor license agreements.
    • Troubleshooting and Support: Troubleshoot and resolve database issues, including performance bottlenecks, and create documentation related to database configurations and procedures.

    Requirements:

    • Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field; minimum 5 years of experience as an Oracle DBA or similar role, with a proven track record of managing Oracle databases in a production environment.
    • Skills: Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) certification, knowledge of other database systems, experience with database automation tools and scripting languages, and familiarity with DevOps practices and tools.

    Work Environment:

    This is a hybrid position with 3 days teleworking and 2 days on-site. The employee will work an 8-hour shift between 6:15 am to 6:00 pm, with a non-compensated 45-minute lunch break.
