    Description
    JOB SUMMARY (overview of job): Responsible for administering physical therapy modalities of treatment as directed by a physical therapist.

    Administers treatments and physical agents as per the physical therapist an effort to restore function and prevent disability following injury, disease or physical disability.

    Assists patients to reach their maximum performance and level of functioning, while learning to live within the limits of their capabilities.

    The physical therapy assistant coordinates, delegates and supervises responsibilities assigned to the physical therapy technicians.

    The staff physical therapy assistant participates in operational aspects of the department, maintains performance improvement activities within the department and participates in CQI activities.

    Provides input in formulating budget, assists in evaluating department performance versus budget controls and takes appropriate action to remain in budget guidelines.

    Ensures that patient charges and daily documentation are accurate and entered on a timely basis. Participates in all infection control, departmental equipment training, organizational safety and fire safety programs.


    EDUCATION:
    Graduate of an approved school for Physical Therapy Assistants.
    LICENSE/CERTIFICATION/


    REGISTRY:
    Current State Physical Therapy Assistant Licensure, Current BCLS (CPR) certification.
    KNOWLEDGE/


    EXPERIENCE:
    3 or more years of previous experience in all aspects of physical therapy as an assistant.

    Ability to keep current technology, programs, trends, research and development through literature, workshops, professional meetings, and conversations; Ability to achieve cognitive, organization and emotional maturity to deal effectively with multiple tasks, stresses, deadlines, difficult situations and/or customers; Possesses interpersonal/communication skills necessary for effective, non-judgmental, and empathetic patient care and customer relations.; Open to feedback and open to a changing environment, which requires flexibility in scheduling and department assignments.
