- Perform high complexity clinical assays according to established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Adhere to departmental policies and procedures, including quality control, quality assurance, and safety protocols.
- Maintain specimen integrity by following laboratory procedures for handling and processing samples.
- Engage in general laboratory operations including keeping a clean work area and participating in meetings.
- Analyze, review, and report test and quality control results, taking remedial actions as necessary.
- Enter and verify data within the clinical Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
- Maintain analytical instruments, schedule routine services, and keep documentation up to date.
- Conduct and maintain quality control assessments and data.
- Perform routine cleaning and housekeeping within the laboratory.
- Create and validate in-house control materials and reagents.
- Complete other duties as assigned by laboratory management.
- Monitor laboratory data systems and perform statistical metric analysis.
- Document and verify reagent quality control.
- File documents related to daily production runs.
- Provide technical feedback regarding workflow issues to the Lab Supervisor.
- Manage laboratory inventory for designated work areas.
- Execute additional laboratory duties as required.
- B.S. degree in Medical Technology or Chemical, Biological, or Physical Science.
- Required: N/A
- Preferred: Certification as Medical Technologist, Clinical Laboratory Scientist, or Molecular Biology through the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) or equivalent certification, along with one year of relevant laboratory experience or professional laboratory certification.
- Ability to understand and follow written procedures and verbal instructions accurately.
- Good dexterity with manual and automated pipettes.
- Excellent attention to detail and strong analytical skills using graphs, tables, charts, and calculations.
- Basic knowledge of computers including MS Excel and Word.
- Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate across the laboratory.
- Capability to manage frequent interruptions and changing workloads.
- Strong multitasking skills and ability to handle stress.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Position Overview:
Sonic Reference Laboratory (SRL) is the national reference laboratory for Sonic Healthcare USA. As part of this innovative esoteric testing lab, you will have the opportunity to work with a unique test menu and contribute to a culture focused on quality and continuous improvement. The Molecular Technologist is responsible for performing moderate and high complexity clinical sample testing within our Molecular Diagnostic Laboratory. You will be tasked with daily laboratory testing, as well as analyzing, reviewing, and reporting test results.
Location: Austin, TX
Days: Tuesday - Saturday
Hours: Cross shift 10am - 6pm (Shift and Weekend Differentials apply)
