    Introduction

    The Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (DMHAS) is seeking a qualified individual to join as a DMHAS Assistant Medical Director (PCN). In this role, you will be a clinical leader, providing supervision to staff within the Addiction Services Division. Learn more about this opportunity below.

    The Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (DMHAS) is a health care agency dedicated to promoting the overall health and wellness of individuals with behavioral health needs through comprehensive services that foster dignity and self-sufficiency.

    The Addiction Services Division is part of Connecticut Valley Hospital providing 24-hour inpatient services. The division offers inpatient services in Middletown and Hartford offering acute detoxification and intensive treatment levels of care.

    PURPOSE OF JOB CLASS (NATURE OF WORK)

    This class is accountable for assisting in administering agency medical, clinical and behavioral health services programs and operations within a hospital division.

    EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

    • Assists in developing and implementing policies, goals, and objectives.
    • Develops programs and activities including medical service standards.
    • Determines appropriate staffing levels and coordinates staff management.
    • Participates on committees and boards.
    • Leads recruitment and hiring of staff.
    • May testify in court.
    • May conduct training.
    • Performs quality assurance studies.
    • Performs related duties as required.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY

    • Considerable knowledge of management principles, medicine, and psychiatry.
    • Interpersonal, oral/written communication, and analytical skills.
    • Ability to teach and provide clinical supervision.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - GENERAL EXPERIENCE

    Experience in a hospital, clinic, or correctional facility as a board-certified physician.

    SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

    • Must possess a license to practice medicine in Connecticut.
    • Must have certification as a specialist in psychiatry or related specialty.
    • Must maintain eligibility for federal health care programs.
    • May be required to possess and retain additional certifications.
    • May be required to be bilingual.
