    About the Position:

University Hospitals Seidman Cancer Center (UH-SCC)/Case Western Reserve University (CWRU) is seeking two full-time physicists to join the Department of Radiation Oncology. This is an exciting opportunity to participate in building several clinical, research, and educational programs in partnership with the department's leadership team to propel UH-SCC to be a world-class center of excellence. One position is based in Cleveland, Ohio at the Seidman Cancer Center, only free-standing cancer hospital in Ohio. The second position will cover one or two satellite locations within the system, all within 45 min from the main hospital. The specific responsibilities for each position and the coverage model can be tailored to the individual candidate's interests and experience. Eligible candidates will receive an academic faculty appointment from Case Western Reserve University.

The ideal candidate will be a motivated, independent individual with excellent communication skills, who can work as part of the team or independently. Clinical experience in advanced radiotherapy techniques, a Ph.D., or M.Sc. in Medical Physics or related discipline, and certification/board eligibility in therapeutic medical physics from the American Board of Radiology (ABR) is required. The candidate will join a team of 20 physicists and 15 dosimetrists and will participate in all routine clinical medical physics tasks such as acceptance and commissioning, quality assurance, direct patient care, radiation safety and treatment planning support. The successful candidate is expected to teach didactic courses for physician residents, as well as mentor physics residents, dosimetry students, and guide trainees as multiple educational programs are under development, including a medical physics graduate program.

Previous experience with MR, and MR-guided radiotherapy, adaptive radiotherapy, linac-based SRS, proton therapy, and brachytherapy is preferred but not required. Opportunities for startup packages and department funding for research is available for candidates with interest in research and development.

About Seidman Cancer Center and the Department of Radiation Oncology:

UH is comprised of 23 hospitals, of which cancer services are currently at 15 centers. UH-SCC is consistently ranked as a top cancer center by US News and World Report, is one of only a select number of centers with NCI designation, and even fewer with a proton center. UH-SCC is part of the Case Comprehensive Cancer Center, which consistently is in the top 10 accruing sites to cooperative group trials in the nation. The Radiation Oncology Department is currently located at 9 centers, and is undergoing an exciting transformation to become international leaders in Radiation Oncology. There has been investment and recruitment of top talent with over 25 new staff and faculty hired in the past year due to this positive and exciting change.

The Department of Radiation Oncology at UH-SCC/CWRU consists of 20 physicians, 20 physicists, 7 physician residents, 4 physics residents, 15 dosimetrists, and 40 therapists spread over nine facilities. System-wide we treat over 3,000 patients per year, and approximately 300 patients per day. Major treatment equipment includes fifteen Linacs (both Varian and Elekta), three HDR brachytherapy units, one Gamma Knife and a single-room Mevion Proton Therapy Unit. We are undergoing construction in three vaults which will house a research machine, a Varian Edge for SRS and SBRT, and a MR linac all of which will go live in 2023 and early 2024. The full range of radiation oncology service includes 3D-CRT, IMRT, VMAT, SBRT, SRS, TBI, TSEI, Brachytherapy (HDR & LDR) and Proton Therapy.
