- Perform a variety of laboratory tests, including blood, urine, and tissue analyses, using automated equipment and manual techniques.
- Prepare specimens for testing, ensuring accuracy, integrity, and proper handling throughout the testing process.
- Follow standardized procedures and protocols to conduct tests, interpret results, and report findings to healthcare providers in a timely manner.
- Maintain laboratory equipment and instrumentation, troubleshooting issues as needed and performing routine maintenance and calibration procedures.
- Adhere to quality control and quality assurance measures to ensure accuracy, precision, and reliability of test results.
- Record and document test results, observations, and procedures accurately in laboratory information systems (LIS) or other electronic medical record (EMR) systems.
- Comply with all safety protocols and regulations, including handling potentially hazardous materials and infectious specimens according to established guidelines.
- Collaborate with other laboratory staff, healthcare professionals, and supervisors to coordinate testing schedules, prioritize workloads, and ensure efficient workflow.
- Participate in continuing education and training activities to stay current with advances in laboratory technology, instrumentation, and best practices.
- Demonstrate professionalism, integrity, and commitment to ethical standards in all aspects of laboratory practice.
- Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a related field from an accredited institution.
- Valid certification as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist (CLT) or Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) from a recognized certifying agency (e.g., ASCP, AMT, AAB).
- Minimum of 1 year of experience working as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist in a clinical laboratory setting.
- Proficiency in performing routine laboratory tests, interpreting results, and troubleshooting technical issues.
- Familiarity with laboratory instrumentation, equipment, and procedures commonly used in clinical chemistry, hematology, microbiology, and immunology.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact professionally with colleagues and healthcare providers.
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality, privacy, and ethical standards in handling patient information and laboratory data.
