    Job Summary: The position of "Medical Director" is responsible for the coordination and oversight of all medical care provided at Mazzoni Center and for the quality of services rendered. The Medical Director will report to the Executive Medical Officer and will ensure proper functioning of day-to-day operations of the medical center. Serves as a member of management team at Mazzoni Center. Reports to the Executive Medical Officer (EMO) and collaborates with the Assistant Medical Director, Director of Nursing and Integrated Services and the Director of Practice Management as well as other Mazzoni Center Directors to ensure integration of services and care across departments. Delivers ambulatory care.

    Communication: Good oral and written communication skills are required for this position. The person in this position must be able to communicate effectively with the clients, staff, and others; and contribute to a positive environment.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Delivery of Medical Care

    • Provides direct patient care to ambulatory patients; for 40% of work time clinical, with 60% of work time administrative
    • Provides oversight of delivery of medical care by clinical staff through direct supervision and audits
    • Serves in rotation for after-hours call system

    Administrative Activities

    • Collaborates with the Quality team to develop and support implementation of quality improvement projects
    • Works with EMO and Director of Nursing to develop, update and implement clinical protocols and procedures
    • Participates in review of patient satisfaction surveys and in resolving patient complaints and incident reports
    • Collaborates with EMO on the completion and submission of grant and funding opportunities
    • Works with Assistant Medical Director for oversight and utilization of family planning services and grants, MOUD services, PACTS program and Youth Drop In
    • Serves as a leadership presence in the health center to help troubleshoot clinical and patient care issues that arise
    • Provides mentorship and ongoing clinical support to all clinicians
    • Attends select standing meetings (such as practice administration, staff, etc.) and other meetings as required
    • Serves as a point person for organizing and communicating with Clinical Leads
    • Promotes provider support for diagnostic and E&M coding accuracy, adherence with compliance plan, attainment of productivity targets, and claims preparation for third party reimbursement
    • Participate in on-going Medical Education activities which may include Medical Students, Residents in training as well as other students in other medical disciplines such as Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant Students and others
    • Collaborate with EMO in provider recruitment activities
    • Work with Assistant Medical Director to assure appropriate and comprehensive Provider on-boarding
    • Provides formal orientation and conducts annual performance evaluations for all medical providers
    • Attends standing meetings (such as management, staff, etc.) and other meetings as required
    • Collaborates with EMO in the development of Mazzoni Center budget
    • Assures consistency of organizational mission with demonstrated needs/expectations of medically underserved LGBTQIA+ community
    • Commits professional time to community services activities on behalf of Mazzoni Center
    • Serves as participant in any planned fundraising activities

    Education, Training, License and Certification, Skills and Experience:

    • Graduate of an accredited school of medicine
    • Licensed as a physician in the State of Pennsylvania and will maintain current Pennsylvania license
    • Five years practice experience beyond residency training; preference to experience in primary care and in serving LGBTQIA+ patients
    • Board-certified in a primary care specialty and maintains ongoing certification
    • BLS certified
    • Commit to the mission of Mazzoni Center and demonstrates commitment to the LGBTQIA+ community
    • Administrative, management and supervisory experience
    • Computer literate and intimate knowledge of EMR
    • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing

    Clearances:

    1. Background checks are required, including Criminal Background Clearance, Child Abuse Clearance, and FBI Clearance.

    9. Repetitive motion. Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
    10. Exerting up to 35 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
    11. Must have all necessary vaccinations and tuberculosis screening and Hepatitis B immunity screen in accordance with applicable Mazzoni Center policies.
