Job Summary
Reviews, evaluates, designs, implements and maintains company database[s]. Identifies data sources, constructs data decomposition diagrams, provides data flow diagrams and documents the process. Writes codes for database access, modifications, and constructions including stored procedures.
Responsibilities
Essential Functions:
Compiles data from a variety of sources for the purpose of developing databases from primary and secondary data.
Reviews, evaluates, designs, implements, and maintains databases.
Works with study teams to compile study data for
FITBIR
data submission including identifying measures that do not currently have
FITBIR
data forms.
Identifies data sources, constructs data decomposition diagrams, provides data flow diagrams, generates data dictionaries and documents the process.
Writes codes for database access, modifications, and constructions including storage procedures.
Supports data scientists and investigators in data project management.
Updates existing databases to better serve the research projects, and suggest improvements in data collection, management, and analysis.
Is responsible for maintaining data-related regulatory requirements needed for the University of Utah, Department of Veterans Affairs, and Department of Defense, to name but a few.
Assists in the preparation of manuscripts and presentation materials.Writes project reports and publication materials.
Provides training and supervision to junior data managers/analysts.

Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of complicated tasks. May lead and direct the work of others. Typically reports to a project leader or manager. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.

Requires a bachelor's degree in a related area or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience) and 4-6 years of experience in the field or in a related area.

Experience with health sciences research and/or experience with survey and/or databases related to Veteran health states, health care/treatment and long-term outcomes.
At least two years of related experience in research and background in engineering, math, clinical informatics, or computer science.Type
