- Conduct surveys on roadways, airfields, airports, and military bases. Examine previous records and evidence to ensure data accuracy.
- Research and design methods for survey processes.
- Use equipment and tools to accurately measure land features (e.g., longitudes, latitudes).
- Build maps, sketches, and charts.
- Work closely with grading and paving crews.
- Provide guidance to other field staff.
- Report on survey results and present findings to Survey and/or Machine Control Manager as well as other project stakeholders.
- Collaborate with engineers and architects on projects.
- Assist Superintendents and Project Managers with other operational duties as assigned.
- 0-3 years experience as a surveyor or in a similar role
- Tech familiarity and knowledge with GPS and TPS, preferred but not required.
- Valid certifications needed to work on construction sites in project locations, required.
- Aptitude in math and problem-solving.
- Attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Able to work nights and weekends.
- Ability to gain clearance in restricted/high-security zones. (Airport AOA, Military Bases, etc.)
- Physical capabilities required are climbing, lifting, carrying a minimum of 75 lbs., standing, sitting, walking, entering confined spaces, pushing, pulling, kneeling, squatting, and performing repetitive actions.

Job DescriptionSalary:Summary
Surveyors' basic responsibilities will include surveying layout in several locations and creating maps and reports of survey results for our concrete paving and other related projects.
We are currently seeking candidates that will help us execute our projects in Nashville, TN, Raleigh, NC, and Charlotte, NC, but may require travel (up to 100%) to future sites and cities TBD.

Hi-Way Paving, Inc. is a general contractor in the heavy/civil construction space focusing on projects involving significant amounts of concrete paving on airfields.
We operate in several southeastern and midwestern states with current job sites in Tennessee, North Carolina, and Virginia as well as corporate/back office operations in Ohio (our headquarters) and remote locations.
