    Job Summary

    We are seeking a registered nurse to provide clinical direction for all aspects of patient care in an acute inpatient setting. The ideal candidate will foster patient/family centered care, demonstrate clinical competency, and incorporate evidence-based practices/research in all areas of the nursing process.

    Unit Description

    The General Surgery unit specializes in the care of patients with GI diseases, including colon cancer, diverticulitis, GI bleeding, hernia repair, pancreatic cancer, and gallbladder issues. We work closely with specialists from General Surgery, Surgical Oncology, Colon Rectal, and other departments to provide comprehensive medical care.

    Responsibilities

    1. Collects data and completes nursing assessments using appropriate standards/policies and tools.
    2. Develops individual plans of care based on patient needs and validates priorities with healthcare team members.
    3. Provides direct care to assigned patients consistent with established nursing plans.
    4. Delegates nursing tasks as appropriate and ensures completion of assigned tasks.
    5. Monitors quality of care delivered and ensures a safe environment.
    6. Evaluates plan of care for effectiveness and revises as needed.
    7. Communicates patient/family needs to others in the healthcare continuum.
    8. Maintains professional licensure and completes required education.

    Requirements

    • Associate degree in Nursing; Bachelor's degree preferred.
    • One year experience as a registered nurse or successful completion of Prisma Health Nurse Residency Program.
    • Licensed to practice as a registered nurse in South Carolina.
