Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital New Brunswick (RWJUH) is seeking a full time Nocturnist to join our Hospitalist Division with Rutgers-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, The State University of New Jersey.
In this position, the Nocturnist will primarily manage admitted patients to the hospitalist medicine service in close collaboration with consultants and subspecialists who practice at RWJUH.
Working on a well-established, multidisciplinary team, the hospitalist's main goal is to partner with the emergency department physicians, observation unit physicians, and intensivists for patients who require admission to the hospitalist service for acute inpatient levels of care on medical surgical and intermediate care units.
The hospitalist will coordinate the inpatient care, assist with transitions of care back to the ambulatory setting, and work closely with the medical and surgical support staff, inclusive of advanced practice providers.
Ideal candidates will be joining a busy and growing practice delivering comprehensive care.A core function of the hospitalist will be to support a team-based approach, inclusive of communication with case managers, social workers, bed managers, and others to ensure appropriate patient-centered transitions of care.
Moreover, the hospitalist will work extensively with the case management, social work, bed management, and pharmacy teams to assist in patient and family communications and care planning.
In addition to providing clinical care, our academic institution in collaboration with Robert Wood Johnson Medical School creates unique opportunities for physicians to engage in clinical and research programs, faculty development, quality improvement activities, and participation in a broad range of teaching initiatives.

Minimum Education and Experience
MD/DO or equivalent.
Board eligible in Internal Medicine and/or Family Medicine
Certifications/Licenses Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Equipment Utilized Physical Demands and Work Environment
Willing to work 7-on / 7-off / 12-hour shift model of employment to ensure appropriate patient care transitions
Overview
The Department of Medicine at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School is comprised of approximately 150 paid and more than 300 volunteer faculty members organized into 11 divisions covering the major medical subspecialties: Allergy, Immunology and Infectious Diseases; Cardiovascular Diseases and Hypertension; Education; Endocrinology, Metabolism and Nutrition; Gastroenterology and Hepatology; General Internal Medicine; Hematology; Medical Oncology; Nephrology; Pulmonary Disease and Critical Care Medicine; and Rheumatology.
The Department's clinical mission encompasses inpatient and ambulatory care settings at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital (the primary teaching hospital of the medical school) and at various hospital affiliates and ambulatory care sites throughout the region.
