    YOUR DAY TO DAY: (Role summary):

    Performs inspection of mechanical assemblies, sub-assemblies' parts, and components for conformance to specifications, assembly practices, and established standards with general supervision.

    YOU WILL BE ACCOUNTABLE FOR: (Responsibilities):

    • Performs inspection on primarily mechanical features of assembles, sub-assemblies, parts, and components for conformance to specifications including packaging procedures, finishes, dimensions, etc.
    • Performs routine mechanical tests and measurements to the degree of accuracy as specified on documentation.
    • May make own set-ups employing a variety of routine fixtures, tools and equipment and utilized special tools as required.
    • May apply knowledge of the true position tolerancing as required.
    • Understands and uses standard inspection tools following written or verbal instructions.
    • May recommend and/or define improved inspection methods or procedures.
    • May train other inspectors or assemblers in production skills and quality standards.
    • May perform inspection of precision ground optics, replicated and vacuum coated optics requiring use of related glass fabrication/inspection equipment.
    • Professionally Interact with other technicians, Customer Service Representatives, Account Managers, and customers.
    • Performs other related duties as required.

    YOU ARE THE RIGHT PERSON FOR THIS JOB IF YOU HAVE: (Minimum requirements):

    1. High School graduate w/ 3 years work experience in quality control inspection in a manufacturing environment.
    2. Familiar with the use of standard inspection equipment (Micrometers, gauge blocks, test indicators, sine bars, specialized gauges: durometers, profilometers, leak checkers, optical flats, interferometers, collimators, and microscopes, coordinate machine, bench CTRS, etc. Required usage equipment is determined by the specific area of operation.
    3. Requires skill in mechanical inspection techniques and practices using a CMM, optical CMM and/or various mechanical measuring tools.
    4. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, assembly drawings and process documentation.
    5. Knowledge of basic algebra, geometry, trigonometry, and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GDT) fundamentals.
    6. Competent using Microsoft Windows and database applications. Excellent record keeping skills and attention to detail.
    7. Must be self-motivated, work as a team player, and able to follow written procedures.
