    Job Summary and Qualifications

    Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

    • Manage and maintain the department bed board.
    • Maintaining a clean sanitary environment, minimizing an infection risk.
    • Responsible for thoroughly cleaning all areas assigned to include patient rooms, exam rooms, offices, bathrooms, ancillary areas, public areas, and other areas that may be assigned.
    • Promotes and enhances the safety of patients, families, and staff.
    • Ensure that all trash and linen is emptied and that containers are inspected for cleanliness in assigned areas.
    • Check all soap, hand sanitizer, lotion, paper towel and toilet paper dispensers and fill as necessary.
    • Keep equipment and supplies clean, organized and in good working condition.
    • Report any problems with equipment or supplies to immediate supervisor.
    • Assists in the selection and orientation of employees.
    • Comply with HIPAA guidelines, ensuring all patient and employee information is kept confidential at all times.
    • Responds to Bed Management System (BMAC) alerts and follows proper procedure for entering bed control information into BMAC. Completes discharges in accordance with BMAC guidelines for timeliness and informs supervisor of any system problems.
    • Mandatory 100% compliance with hand washing expectations, training and education requirements. (Including but not limited to Healthstream and Annual Competencies).
    • Report all maintenance/repair needs to supervisor and submit Plant Operations service request via TMA.
    • Adhere to all departmental and hospital policies.
    • Assist staff in the department when needed.
    • Perform other duties including duties of the EVS Technician, Floor Tech, or OR when assigned.
    • Attend all department meetings and other mandatory events.
    • Appropriately lead the team during the shift when needed.

    What qualifications you will need:

    • Ability to communicate, comprehend, understand and write messages, and follow oral and written directions.
    • Ability to work with a diverse population, and maintain an effective working relationship with others.
    • Must be able to bend, push, pull, lift, reach, stand and walk for extended periods of time.
    • Effectively communicate in the English language.
    • Knowledge of all chemicals, equipment, and cleaning procedures in hospital housekeeping.
    • Ability to demonstrate understanding of Safety, Infection Control, Hazardous Material Handling, and proper use of chemicals and supplies. Demonstrate understanding of Fire, Disaster, and other Emergency codes.

    EDUCATION:

    • High School Diploma or equivalent; will consider work experience in lieu of education.
    • DOT DEQ certification is required within 90 days of hire
    • CPI certification is preferred.
    • Required to have 2-3 years proficient healthcare housekeeping, leadership ability, and excellent communication skills.
