    As the HR Director for our esteemed hotel in Chicago, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring our human resources strategies align with our business goals while fostering a positive and compliant work environment. With a focus on union relations and compliance, you will oversee all aspects of HR functions, ensuring adherence to relevant labor laws, regulations, and union agreements. This role requires a proactive and strategic approach to managing HR initiatives while fostering a culture of inclusivity, fairness, and employee engagement.

    Key Responsibilities:

    1. Union Relations:
    • Serve as the primary point of contact for all union-related matters, fostering positive relations and effective communication with union representatives.
    • Negotiate and administer collective bargaining agreements, ensuring compliance with legal requirements and organizational objectives.
    • Collaborate with department heads to address and resolve labor-related issues in a timely and efficient manner.
    1. Compliance and Legal Oversight:
    • Stay abreast of federal, state, and local labor laws, regulations, and industry trends, ensuring the hotel's policies and practices remain compliant.
    • Develop and implement HR policies, procedures, and practices that adhere to legal requirements and promote a fair and respectful workplace environment.
    • Conduct regular audits and assessments to identify areas for improvement and mitigate potential risks related to labor compliance.
    1. Employee Relations:
    • Provide guidance and support to management and staff on HR-related matters, including employee grievances, disciplinary actions, and conflict resolution.
    • Conduct investigations into workplace complaints or misconduct allegations, ensuring fair and thorough outcomes while maintaining confidentiality.
    • Implement initiatives to promote employee engagement, satisfaction, and retention, fostering a positive workplace culture aligned with the hotel's values.
    1. Talent Acquisition and Development:
    • Oversee the recruitment and selection process for all hotel positions, ensuring the attraction and retention of top talent.
    • Develop and implement training programs to enhance employee skills, performance, and career development opportunities.
    • Collaborate with department managers to identify staffing needs and succession planning strategies to support long-term organizational goals.
    1. HR Administration and Reporting:
    • Oversee HR administrative functions, including payroll, benefits administration, and HRIS management, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in all processes.
    • Prepare and analyze HR metrics and reports to assess the effectiveness of HR programs and initiatives, identifying areas for improvement and strategic intervention.
    • Manage budgetary allocations for HR-related expenses, optimizing resources to support organizational objectives.

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
    • 5+ years of progressive HR experience in the hospitality industry, with a focus on union relations and compliance.
    • Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local labor laws and regulations, particularly in Illinois and Chicago.
    • Experience negotiating and administering collective bargaining agreements.
    • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills.
    • Proven ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion and integrity.
    • SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, or other HR-related certifications preferred.
    • Proficiency in HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
