    Position Overview:

    The role of the Commercial Estimator is pivotal in ensuring the accuracy and precision of estimates for both new constructions and re-roofing ventures within our commercial roofing division. In this role, you'll spearhead the translation of plans, orchestrating seamless communication with vendors to navigate the journey from bid invitations to finalized contracts, and ultimately, project execution.

    Primary Initiatives:

    • Collaborate with leadership to craft and document a comprehensive "target project profile" that will serve as a beacon guiding our future endeavors.
    • Work closely with leadership, the Production department, and distributors to enhance our existing price list. This involves incorporating pertinent material and labor line items into our estimating templates, fostering a framework for streamlined and efficient estimating processes.
    • Utilize the price list to develop and maintain estimating templates tailored for various commercial roofing systems, assemblies, and applications.
    • Partner with the sales department to seamlessly implement and utilize the aforementioned estimating templates.

    • Proactively monitor commercial bid opportunities aligning with the established "target project profile."
    • Actively seek out additional bid opportunities through engagements with general contractors, manufacturers, municipalities, and online bid solicitation platforms.
    • Utilize, refine, and maintain estimating templates to generate competitive and profitable bids for submission.
    • Foster collaboration amongst all departments and stakeholders to cultivate positive relationships internally.
    • Nurture relationships with general contractors and municipalities.
    • Serve as a technical resource and conduit of information, collaborating with both sales and production departments. This involves facilitating proper scheduling for project reviews, conducting video and on-site roof inspections, and ensuring seamless communication.

    Required Skills and Proficiencies:

    • Proficiency in interpreting plans, drawings, and specifications.
    • Exceptional organizational and self-motivational skills, conducive to independent work.
    • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities, with adaptability in dynamic environments.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Teams, Word, and Excel.
    • Experience with digital takeoff and estimating software (e.g., Stack, Edge, PlanSwift, or equivalents).
    • Thorough understanding of commercial roofing products, components, systems, and assemblies.
    • Must successfully pass pre-employment background screening and drug testing, and be able to provide documentation to satisfy the requirements of the federal Form I-9 upon hire.

    Education and Experience:

    • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent; higher education is a plus.
    • 3-5 years of experience in reading plans/specs, including reference documents.
    • 3-5 years of experience in researching manufacturer specifications and building code requirements.
    • 3-5 years of experience in commercial roofing and/or construction estimating.
    • Proficiency in CAD is advantageous.
