    The base hourly rate for this position is $28.56

    This is a skilled position working to install, repair, and maintain machinery and mechanical equipment. Working with plant management team at all levels within the organization to support the four Johns Manville core values: People, Passion, Performance, and Protection. The essential duties and responsibilities include the following:
    • Supports and promotes safe practices and environmental commitments in alignment with company commitments, policies, and compliance requirements.
    • Troubleshooting by use of testing equipment and other measuring techniques.
    • Dismantles devices to gain access to and remove defective parts using hand and power tools.
    • Make adjustments to functional parts of equipment and control systems.
    • Manage downtime by coordinating with production department personnel on routine preventative and predictive maintenance techniques.
    • Fabricate repair parts using shop equipment (welding equipment, cutting equipment, machine tools)
    • Install and repair various types of piping
    • Install, repair and adjust belt conveyors
    • Lubricate chains, bearings, gearboxes, etc
    • Rig, refurbish, and align equipment.
    • Operate a forklift.
    • Inspect air compressors.
    • General welding/fabrication.
    • Always use safe work practices, follow all safety rules and procedures, immediately report any hazardous conditions, and fully participate in safety programs.
    • Perform safety observations and complete training assignments.
    • Wears all personal protective equipment as required by management, including but not limited to protective shoes, glasses, ear plugs, bump cap or hard hat, gloves, dust mask or respirator.
    • Performs other duties as directed
    Qualifications:
    • Associate degree or equivalent from two-year College or technical school; or two years in role with demonstrated skill.
    • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
    • Mechanic license or equivalent work experience
    • Welding certificate or equivalent work experience
    • JM Forklift certified
    • Provide own tools
    • Able to complete CBT training and SCC.
    • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
    • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide.
    • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
    • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk and use the stairs. The employee is occasionally required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and communicate accurately with coworkers. The employee will frequently engage in repetitive motions. The employee must frequently, lift, push or pull 25 pounds and must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds with assistance. Visual acuity is required to work around and with machinery including close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

    Work Environment

    This job is in an industrial, manufacturing environment. The job requires working frequently around and with heavy machinery with moving mechanical parts, industrial ovens, and mobile equipment. The environment is not climate controlled and employees must be able to work in environments that may be extremely hot and humid or cold depending upon the operation and the season. Walking surfaces can be wet, dusty, and uneven. Areas of the building where work must be done have high noise levels, vibration, and/or fumes. Some working areas contain the presence of airborne particles which can irritate the skin or eyes. The manufacturing process involves toxic or caustic chemicals. Employees are required to wear personal protective equipment which includes steel toed shoes, ear protection, eye protection, respirators, gloves and head protection.

    Progression:
    • II > 2 years < 12 years with JM
    • III > 12 years with JM
