Job Summary: The Business Development Advocate will play a key role in driving business growth by establishing new client relationships and securing projects across various market sectors. You will collaborate with multiple clients to shape projects, facilitate referendums, secure funding, finalize contracts, and address any inquiries. Your role will involve working closely with both public and private sector clients to develop effective capital plans and infrastructure improvement projects, as well as defining funding solutions. Ongoing, proactive communication will be essential as you build and maintain positive client relationships through meetings, onsite reviews, email exchanges, and other interaction channels.

• Brainerd, MN
• Mankato, MN

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Identify potential business opportunities and track progress using Coesential or other CRM tools.
• Lead and facilitate professional meetings and presentations.
• Engage in industry conferences and events to promote ICS and enhance communication with current and prospective clients.
• Conduct effective research and data gathering for project development.
• Communicate proactively with financial managers, architects, and engineers to address client needs effectively.
• Secure contracts for both short- and long-term projects successfully.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support business objectives.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or a related field.
• Knowledge of the local government industry and experience interacting with governing boards.
• Proven track record in business development with the ability to cultivate and sustain customer relationships.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent written and verbal skills.
• Experience in public relations and finance is preferred.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and other relevant software.
• Willingness to travel as needed, up to 50% of the time.
• Exemplary integrity and ethical standards in professional conduct.

Problem Solving: You will encounter complex and varied issues that require unique solutions, drawing on individual effort and collaborative consultation. You must demonstrate strong analytical thinking and develop creative approaches to problem-solving.

Supervision Required: This role involves some supervision to review overarching objectives relative to basic responsibilities. Routine tasks and decisions may proceed without direct oversight from immediate supervisors, while strategic matters will be discussed with them.

Decision-Making Impact: Independent judgment is essential in analyzing challenges and conducting needs assessments with key stakeholders. You will use discretion to apply broad guidelines to achieve desired outcomes and regularly make recommendations regarding policies and procedures.

Work Complexity: Your tasks will vary, focusing on both standardized and non-standardized processes.

Supervisory Responsibilities: This position holds no supervisory responsibilities.

Physical Requirements: The role entails regular sitting, standing, walking, talking, hearing, and visual tasks. Occasional climbing, balancing, reaching, crouching, crawling, and tactile tasks may be necessary.

Salary Range: $100k-$150k, based on experience.
