    Role Description

    SMBC Capital Markets, Inc. is looking for a part time or full time Intern in the role of Business Analyst for Back Office applications within their Financial Operations Group Technology team. This candidate would be responsible for providing support for business analysis, data analysis and quality assurance for various finance, accounting and corporate systems projects and enhancements.

    SMBC Capital Markets, Inc. is a market maker for swaps, including interest rate, currency and commodity swaps and related derivative products, headquartered in New York as a wholly-owned subsidiary of SMBC. SMBC Capital Markets, Inc. was provisionally registered as a swap dealer with the Commodity Futures Trading Commission.

    Role Objectives

  • Support of business analysis and quality assurance for strategic projects and enhancements.
  • Participate in business requirements gathering with business and technology stakeholders.
  • Query source system databases using SQL. Support for data analysis, reporting and analytics.
  • Participate in general BA work and project administration.
  • Work with Project Manager to ensure projects stays on track, report status, and escalate issues.
  • Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor's degree with Masters in progress. Computer Science or Information Systems preferred.
  • Subject matter expertise in finance or accounting domains.
  • Work experience in a financial firm in a business analyst or testing role.
  • Strong SQL skills. Experience with MS Excel, Word, Power Point & Visio is a plus.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong work ethic with focus on meeting deadlines and objectives.
