    In a continuing effort to strengthen its base and support its growth in the US, Midea is expanding its Research and Innovation capabilities. To support this effort the Small Appliances division (SDA) has opened a new position for a Senior R&D Electronic Controls Engineer at the Midea America Research Center (MARC) in Louisville, KY.

    The Senior R&D Electronic Controls Engineer will primarily focus on the development of induction related technologies for the US market. Additional responsibilities include supporting strategic direction of all countertop cooking appliances including the following:

    • Air Fryers
    • Electric Grills
    • Electric Pressure Cookers
    • Slow Cookers
    • Multi-Cookers
    • Rice Cookers
    • Food Processors
    • Stand Mixers

    As a key member of the North American Small Appliances R&D Team this role will help to fuel innovation pipelines and coordinate global activities to enhance Mideas portfolio of product offerings.

    Essential Job Responsibilities:

    • Drive innovation and development of market-leading small cooking appliances for the US market.
    • Responsible for software or hardware development, performance debugging, and reliability verification of electronic control for various appliances, ensuring that product performance meets relevant standard requirements.
    • Responsible for preparing documents and organizing reviews of electronic control plans during the development process of new products.
    • Participate in/lead the development of electronic control software or hardware design standards, lead the root cause analysis for control-related market complaints, in charge of reliability inspection, and problem-solving.
    • Embedded H/W design experience for appliance applications.
    • C/C++ programming with particular emphasis in embedded applications.
    • Real-time Operating System (RTOS), for example FreeRTOS, embedded Linux, etc.
    • Experience with ARM32 Cortex M MCUs and development environments.
    • Experience with Graphical User Interface (GUI) development tools.
    • Use of GitHub or similar code management/repository systems.
    • Design experience with both analog and digital circuits.
    • Experience with various serial buses, printed circuit board design and layout, microprocessors, power supply circuits, display, and cap-touch technology.
    • Experience designing electronics, control systems, electro-mechanical component connection, embedded control modules, and wire harnesses.
    • Hardware Design Tools: Schematic Capture, PCB Layout, simulation (e.g., SPICE).
    • Hardware Equipment: DMMs, Oscilloscope, Spectrum / Network Analyzers, Function Generators, LCR Meters, Logic Analyzers, Serial bus debugging, Solid-State power supplies, EMC equipment.
    • Maintain a knowledge of marketplace and product trends, particularly regarding control systems.
    • Ability to determine root cause failure analysis of field returned electronic hardware components.
    • Collaborate with experts in China to maximize impact of projects.
    • Ability to generate new product & feature ideas and develop into working prototypes.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications:

    • 7+ years of experience in research and development, product development, and/or innovation in home appliances, consumer goods, or related industry.
    • Masters Degree or above in Electrical Engineering, or bachelors degree with equivalent extra experience.
    • Experience with power electronics, induction experience preferred.
    • Proficient with hardware design tools: Schematic Capture, PCB Layout, simulation (e.g., SPICE)
    • Domestic and international experience and multi-cultural mindset.
    • Experience working in teams. Leading and coaching skills preferred.
    • Excellent communication, motivation, and coordination skills.
    • Goal oriented and self-managed personality with a strong entrepreneurial spirit.
    • Strong problem solving and risk management skills.
