Job Description
The Automation Co-op will provide hands-on experience that highlights the innovation and teamwork of CSL Seqirus, a leading influenza vaccines manufacturing organization with operations in Holly Springs, NC. Over the course of this co-op program, the student will have opportunity to work on challenging projects that contribute to our vision to save lives and protect the health of people around the world. Beyond making an impact through their work, students will grow both personally and professionally while building meaningful relationships across the team.
Operating under the general guidance of the Head of Automation Engineering, Principal Engineer, or Manager Engineer, you will provide technical support for assigned unit operations and automation systems. This role assists in troubleshooting, investigations, and implementing corrective actions, while supporting projects and validation activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical support for automation systems and unit operations across the site.
- Lead investigations and resolve issues to root cause; implement corrective actions.
- Execute simple change controls and validation qualifications (IQ/OQ/PQ).
- Troubleshoot system/equipment-related issues within automation scope and develop sound engineering solutions.
- Perform engineering tasks for design, procurement, fabrication, and commissioning phases associated with standard or custom systems.
- Support automation engineering strategy to ensure reliable, safe operation of process equipment and utility systems during and after installation.
Scope / Accountability
- All processes and supported automation systems at the site.
- Ensure compliance with GMP, safety, and Seqirus engineering standards.
Decision Making
- Solve problems requiring technical knowledge and complexity.
- Assist others in troubleshooting when familiar with or have prior exposure.
Knowledge, Skills, and Competencies
- Applies functional and technical expertise to solve complex problems/issues affecting the team.
- Develops skills in multiple functional areas and identifies ways to streamline processes.
- Acts as a source of technical expertise, serving as a role model for others and continually acquiring new skills.

- Rockwell / Allen Bradley – Programmable Logic Control (PLC)
- Aveva PI – Data Historian
- DeltaV – Distributed Process Control System
- Desigo – Building Automation System
Minimum Qualifications:
- Actively pursuing a Bachelor's in Engineering with emphasis in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science / Engineering or Biomedical Engineering
- Demonstrated academic performance to meet school standards for ongoing participation in the co-op program
- Strong technical aptitude and an analytic approach to problem solving
- Demonstrates excellent skills in organization, team dynamics, effective communication and prioritization of tasks
- Enthusiasm to learn new tools & technologies
- Maintains professional behavior
