    Description
    Our client is seeking a dynamic Head of Data Science to spearhead the development of data analytics capabilities.

    As a key member of the Global Equity Team, you will not only implement data infrastructure and conduct analysis but also have the unique opportunity to curate data assets, develop models using cutting-edge techniques like NLP and machine learning, and manage a team of external data scientists.

    This role offers a perfect blend of hands-on work and strategic management responsibilities.

    Key Responsibilities
    Deliver data analysis and reporting for the investment teams.
    Act as a champion for data science by applying statistical analysis and visualisation techniques.
    Design data pipelines, infrastructure, and processes to power advanced modelling work.
    Perform hands-on modelling and algorithm development.
    Oversee the curation and structuring of data to feed models, including large language model investment co-pilot.
    Keep current on advancements in data science and implement solutions tailored to needs.
    Hire and manage external data scientists or other resources. Set priorities, provide oversight and foster excellence.
    Communicate insights from analyses to both technical and non-technical audiences.

    Qualifications
    Degree in statistics, computer science, data science, or any other quantitative field (e.g., engineering, physics).
    Significant/ extensive experience applying data science in investment management.
    Experience applying basic statistical techniques.
    In-depth knowledge of Excel and familiarity with financial valuation models and basic accounting.
    Proficient in Python, SQL, ML, NLP, and data visualisation.

    Important characteristics
    Must be entrepreneurial and a self-starter.
    A strong communicator capable of simplifying complex concepts.
    Willing to roll up their sleeves (there is minimal ability in this role to delegate tasks to subordinates).
