VACANCY NOTICE
JOB TITLE:
HVAC/
TECHNICIAN
REPORTS TO:
Supervisor of Buildings & Grounds
JOB PURPOSE:
To maintain the physical and safe operation of the HVAC units in all of the district buildings and perform general building maintenance.
Qualification-Required:
High School Diploma or Equivalent
Black Seal License-Recommended
CFC Certification, EPA Refrigerant Recovery Certification
Minimum of 10 years of experience or advanced training in heating and venting system
Must be able to read simple measuring devices and understand simple specifications
Experience troubleshooting and repairing heating and cooling systems, pumps, fans, etc
Must be familiar with chillers, gas-fired boilers, building automation systems, and all controls including electric, digital, and pneumatic
Must be able to diagnose and fix problems with all make and model HVAC units, including unit ventilators, air handlers, DX cooling systems, ice machines, walk-in freezers, and refrigerators
Must be proficient with all HVAC skills, leak testing, recovering refrigerant, pressure testing with nitrogen, evacuating, recharging by weight, etc.
Must be able to work independently and /or with others assigned
Must be able to work with all levels of staff
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written)
Able to speak English clearly and accurately
Valid NJ Driver's license
Able to pass the Criminal History Review
Able to submit the Sexual Misconduct/Child Abuse Disclosure Form
Qualifications-Desired:
Associated Degree/Technical HVAC
Hold various other HVAC certifications and/or licenses
Completing/ organizing work orders
Ability to repair commercial kitchen equipment, standby generators, and transfer switches
Ability to repair/maintain associated plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and Building Automation Systems (BAS) and controls
Duties/Responsibilities:
Troubleshoots, maintains, inspects, modifies, and repairs, performs preventative maintenance on heating, ventilation systems, air conditioning and refrigeration systems, and equipment
Programs and/or schedules BAS and HVAC controls to ensure proper Indoor Air Quality (IAQ)
Programs and/or schedules BAS operations for proper HVAC comfort and energy management
Responds to routine and emergency calls for repair and service
Assists with the writing of specifications for repairs and new construction
Able to operate various pieces of light construction equipment/machinery in a safe manner
Working Conditions:
School Buildings
Outside
Responsible for the care and maintenance of moderately expensive tools and/or equipment
On-call for emergency repairs
