    Overview:

    Positions functions as a resource for the Operating room, continuity of nursing care management, practice, teaching and consultation for a 8 hour shift within the assigned clinical service

    Under the supervision and administration of the Nurse Director of assigned Unit, the Clinical Supervisor is responsible for the nursing care in an assigned nursing unit or a portion of a nursing unit.

    Responsibilities:
    • Assures the comprehensive care is given to each patient and evaluates the delivery of care.
    • Coordinates the activities of the Unit and directs, organizes and assigns work to the nursing staff.
    • Assists nursing personnel in identifying patient and family needs.
    • Assures that all orders are executed in accordance with established policies and procedures.
    • Performs patient-care rounds
    • Collaborates with Unit Management in determining and obtaining equipment and supplies needed in performance of patient care.
    • Assists in scheduling nursing personnel to insure adequate staffing
    • Assists in determining staffing needs and advises nursing supervisor/unit manager.
    • Maintains legal, institutional and professional standards.
    • Assists in the orientation of new nursing personnel and keeps them informed of the philosophies policies and procedures to be followed in caring for patients and their families.
    • Assists in providing in-services and/or continuing education for the nursing staff.
    • Participates in peer review activities (setting patient care standards and nursing committee activities).
    • Identifies areas of needed improvement and participates in the Performance Improvement process.
    • Maintains a professional appearance at all times in dress and attitude.
    • Serves as a role model and assists in establishing a positive and motivating work environment in order to enhance attitudes and disposition to think critically.
    • Performs related duties required.
    Qualifications:

    Required

    Preferred

    Education:

    Associates degree from an accredited nursing school

    Bachelors degree from an accredited nursing school

    Experience:

    Five years Operating Room Experience

    Degrees, Licensure, and/or Certification:

    Current RN Arkansas license with the Arkansas State Board of Nursing.

    BLS & ACLS certification

    NIHSS

    PALS or EMPC

    TNCC

    CNOR Prefered

    CNOR Certification

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    Must be able to communicate with physicians, all levels of hospital personnel, patients, visitors and families.

    Pass pharmacology test given by NARMC with a score of 80% or above.

    Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English
