As a Lead Process Engineer on our Family Care R&E Materials Team, you'll contribute to providing superior care for billions of individuals globally.

    The incumbent will act as a Lead Mechanical Engineer collaborating with a team to identify challenges and devise solutions for Family Care's tissue and towel businesses, including enhancing product preference and differentiation, product supply, and margin enhancements. The incumbent will offer guidance and assistance in the development, design, installation, and/or optimization of new or existing assets. Collaboration will be key, both internally within the company with R&E, pilot plant, mill, and multifunctional team members, and externally with vendors.

    Responsibilities:

    • Lead by example in safety, ethics, quality, regulatory compliance, sustainability, inclusion, and diversity while managing oneself in line with expected KC competencies.
    • Coach and guide team members to enhance technical knowledge and capabilities to execute programs for improved business outcomes.
    • Efficiently work independently and as part of a cross-functional team involving R&E, Supply Chain, mill operations, procurement, equipment suppliers, and external service providers to innovate and develop paper machine clothing that drives advancements in products, brands, and mill processes.
    • Transform identified needs, brand commitments, and consumer feedback into concrete and innovative product characteristics.
    • Anticipate business requirements 2 to 5+ years ahead of project team needs to foster long-term competitive advantages.
    • Collaborate with vendors to nurture and enhance relationships, ensuring mutually beneficial outcomes for all parties.
    • Uphold technical and scientific expertise in a technology area and communicate the impact of advancements on Kimberly-Clark.
    • Lead the initiation and implementation of innovation-centered projects focused on long-term competitive advantages.
    • Cultivate a culture of safeguarded and documented innovation to protect and safeguard K-C's proprietary technology, products, and business procedures through proper utilization of patents and trade secrets. This includes fulfilling necessary project documentation through EFS, EDR, and Appropriation activities and adhering to PMP documentation, including Corporate Financial Instructions (CFIs).

    Required:

    • A Bachelor's degree, Master's degree, or a PHD in Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline (e.g. Science or Engineering).
    • At least 2 years of relevant technical experience in mill, production, or staff R&E roles.

    Preferred:

    • The ideal candidate possesses experience in high-speed converting and/or paper manufacturing. Key technology areas include:
      • Mechanical Design and 3D printing experience.
      • Knowledge of or willingness and ability to learn about paper manufacturing and converting expertise.
    • Demonstrated proficiency in Engineering and design competencies such as:
      • Design of Experiments.
      • Data & Statistical Analysis.
      • Engineering Economics.
    • Understanding of Analytical Method Development using Profilometry and Microscopy.
    • Proven capability to impart technical core competencies and mentor junior engineers.
    • Solid foundation in engineering systems and tools to steer technical innovation.
    • Demonstrated ability to establish robust, effective cross-functional connections at the enterprise level.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • The capacity to adapt to rapidly evolving business priorities and tasks.
    • Proven ability to work autonomously or guide a team to successfully complete projects within specified timelines and budget.
    • Ability to lead and direct a diverse team of KC and external personnel to define and execute projects that align with business objectives.
