    Description

    About the Role:
    The position available is for a Principal Engineer in the Data Platform team. In this role, you will lead and guide design and development, while also being actively involved in Spark/Flink data processing and Java/Scala microservices development. You will play a key role in the launch of a cutting-edge platform that powers a highly secure data lake, detecting malicious activities and preventing security breaches. The team's main focus is on centralizing data from Falcon Sensors and other external sources, handling trillions of events daily. Your responsibilities will include enabling customers to leverage the platform for both batch and streaming analytics, machine learning, and threat detection. As a senior member of the engineering team, you will be involved in various aspects of the system, from query processing to building scalable pipelines and tools for data utilization by users and internal systems.

    What You'll Do:

    The main tasks in this role involve shaping the future of the Analytics Data Platform by developing a Unified Data Catalog and Query Analysis for structured data, optimizing query performance, and contributing to big data frameworks.

    • Design, develop, and maintain a high-performance data platform

    • Participate in technical reviews, develop new features, and enhance system stability

    • Focus on improving service efficiency to ensure customer satisfaction

    • Research and implement new methods for efficient data querying and extraction


    What You'll Need:

    • BS with 12+ years of experience, or MS with 10+ years in Computer Science or related field

    • Extensive experience in building distributed services-oriented backend architecture

    • 3+ years of experience in Spark or Flink-based data platform products

    • Proficiency in Apache Hadoop ecosystem tools such as Spark, Kafka, Hive/Apache Iceberg/Delta Lake, Apache Presto/Trino, Apache Pinot

    • 3+ years of coding experience in Java, Scala, Kotlin, or similar language

    • Hands-on experience with relational SQL and NoSQL databases

    • Expertise in big data frameworks for multi-petabyte scale data handling

    • Strong knowledge of algorithms, distributed systems design, and software development lifecycle

    • Experience with Apache Flink or other streaming systems is advantageous

    • Familiarity with Go and Kubernetes is a plus

    • Good test-driven development practices

    • Proficiency in Linux administration tools

    • Ability to effectively collaborate with remote teams
