Job summary
The Lower School teacher assumes responsibility for providing learning experiences and supervision of students at the elementary level (K-5) in a supportive and positive climate that develops each student the skills attitudes and knowledge to meet and exceed in the classroom. Achieving academic excellence requires the teacher to work collaboratively with other members of the school faculty staff and with parents.Responsibilities include administering developmental testing programs assessing student competency levels advising parents legal guardians of student progress demonstrating methods required to perform classroom subject specific assignments managing student behavior monitoring students in various educational environments organizing age appropriate indoor outdoor activities responding to emergency situations responding to inquiries from other teachers parents administrators preparing written materials documenting student progress maintaining confidentiality engaging students in meaningful lessons assignments maintaining classroom environment communicating effectively orally writing prioritizing multitasking situations effectively employing interpersonal skills.
