This position selects and places surgical instruments supplies and equipment during surgery.Prepares for surgical procedures pulls appropriate instruments supplies ensures good working order of instruments reviews case carts for correct instruments supplies plans ahead for upcoming surgical case needs anticipates surgeons needs passes instruments retracts tissue operates equipment during surgery demonstrates principles of aseptic technique universal precautions throughout procedure disposes sharps trash places used supplies into case cart for processing participates in counting of sharps instruments sponges prepares instruments for cleaning following each case ensures all surgeon preference cards pick lists accurate assists OR turnover between cases participates in stocking replenishing supplies cleaning operating rooms may provide business support department assigned administrative tasks performs all functions according established policies procedures regulatory accreditation requirements applicable professional standards provides customers excellent service experience consistently demonstrating core leader behaviors day
