    Position Focus:

    Reporting to the Center Directors, the Managing Director is responsible for the day-to-day administration of the Yale Center for Natural Carbon Capture, a center to promote research on carbon capture and reduction of greenhouse gases using biological, ecological, geological, chemical and/or engineering approaches.

    The Managing Director will contribute to program development and will be responsible for program management, preparation of regular reports, public outreach, online communications, donor relations, financial oversight, and supervising administrative staff.


    • Serve as primary coordinator and liaison for the Yale Center for Natural Carbon Capture (YCNCC), supporting research, training, and outreach activities.2. Manage programs within the Center, such as a postdoctoral fellowship program, workshops, and a research seed grants program.3. Work closely with the Center's lead administrator in the Provost's Office to assist with preparing and tracking budgets and monitoring of expenses. 4. Manage staff and coordinate activities of various administrative offices, faculty, scientific leadership team, steering committee, funders and other stakeholders across both the university, as well as the Center's broader networks.5. Develop and foster relationships with other Yale Centers, Schools, and Departments as well as outside agencies (e.g., NGOs, businesses, government) doing work relevant to that being done at the Center. 6. Assist with raising additional funds for the center, including interacting with private and corporate donors, interfacing with the Development Office, and supporting faculty and research scientist proposals for external federal funding. 7. Compile reports and prepare presentations on the Center's activities and progress for funders and internal use.8. Be first point of contact for inquiries and serve as a liaison between Center scientists and external stake holders, NGOs, policy makers, etc.9. Work closely with Center Communications Director on development and maintenance of the Center's website and other outreach materials and monitor the Center's official email address.10. Oversee the organization and hosting of events such as seminars, workshops, and conferences.

    Required Education and Experience:

    • MS degree in a relevant scientific field and five years of related experience in research/academic administration or the equivalent combination of education and experience. 2. Demonstrated expertise in natural climate solutions and/or carbon management.

    Superior interpersonal skills to interact effectively and represent the Center well with students, faculty, administrators, alumni, visitors, other Yale staff, and corporate contacts.
