    JOB TITLE: Pharmacy Clerk

    DEPARTMENT: Pharmacy

    REPORTS TO: Director of Pharmacy

    FLSA STATUS: Non-exempt

    LOCATION: Paterson and Alcott

    We are seeking a talented and passionate "Pharmacy Clerk" to provide excellent quality care in a fast-paced, growing healthcare community. This role demands a variety of clerical duties within the pharmacy, provides pharmacist resources to develop innovative and patient oriented services, maintaining stock control of medications and supplies, receiving and verifies shipments, pricing items, stocks shelves, and help keep the our environment clean.

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Verifies with Pharmacist all prescriptions before being dispensed to the patient.
    • Gives prescriptions to patient insuring they understand each medication and directs specific medication questions to the pharmacist.
    • Collects any money for prescriptions and over-the-counter items.
    • Prepares reports and types correspondence according to established practices.
    • Files a variety of materials and maintains neat and orderly files.
    • Maintains neat and orderly work area.
    • Maintain Inventory of medications.
    • Fills and Maintains stock in the automated dispensing machine.
    • Attends in-service education and departmental meetings as required.

    TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

    • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands for use of Personal computer as well as other office equipment.
    • The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; and talk and use hearing to listen. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, and kneel. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
    • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision and ability to adjust focus

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Prefer candidate who is bilingual speaking both English and Spanish.
    • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
    • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
    • Must have ability to speak effectively and with warmth and compassion using the telephone.
    • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to interpret bar graphs.
    • An individual must possess the aptitude to learn new software that pertains to the functions of the position.

    EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES:

    • Must have a high school diploma or GED and one plus year(s) of experience in a medical setting with some aspect of patient care; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Must have motivation to prepare for the National Pharmacy Technician Exam.
