Reporting to the Quality Manager, the Quality Supervisor is responsible for overseeing quality operations and employees in the production environment.
This includes but not limited to shop floor problem solving, root cause analysis, NCR's, supplier RMA SCARs and issue management.
The Quality Supervisor plays a key role in balancing quality, productivity, cost, safety, and morale to achieve positive results across all areas.
Primary/Essential Responsibilities:
Lead and supervise quality teams responsible for incoming and final inspections, ensuring adherence to established quality standards and procedures.
Control manpower and materials to ensure accurate and timely completion of production tasks while maintaining high-quality standards.
Initiate, implement, and lead continuous improvement activities focused on enhancing production quality, including researching new processes, procedures, and equipment.
Continuously evaluate and improve inspection processes and inspection results using lean concepts and Six Sigma methodologies to drive efficiency and effectiveness.
Collaborate with Operational Excellence to establish value stream priorities and implement improvements, fostering a culture of quality and continuous improvement.
Supervise Quality Assurance (QA) employees, track absenteeism, and maintain timekeeping records to ensure optimal team performance.Provide mentoring, development, and coaching to employees to enhance their work skills and improve department throughput.
Recommend and implement disciplinary actions when necessary to address performance issues and ensure adherence to quality standards.
Monitor production schedules and results, identifying and addressing quality issues, production delays, and other related concerns.
Manage departmental performance measures, including visual controls, and provide regular progress reports to the manager.
Support the review and updating of work instructions, ensuring alignment with quality standards and providing training to team members for seamless implementation.
Collaborate with Quality Engineers, Production, Warehouse, Supply Chain, and Planning teams to resolve quality-related issues and improve overall production quality.
Manage employee scheduling, ensuring adequate coverage for quality operations and managing vacation schedules to maintain production continuity.Review and approve timecards to ensure accuracy and compliance with company policies and procedures.
Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications:
5-7 years' progressive quality experience in a manufacturing environment
Minimum of 3 years of experience directing hourly or manufacturing workforce
High school diploma or GED
Intermediate/ advanced computer skills including experience using the MS Office suite, a business planning and inventory system
Excellent problem solving and communication skills
Extensive knowledge and leadership in the principles and practice of Lean, problem solving, Six Sigma and/or other continuous improvement models; participated in related improvement projects
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in related field
High energy, hands on attitude
Plant operations or issue resolution experience preferred
Responsible for day-to-day performance of a group ~ 18 + employees. Guides/monitors group toward its goals ensures employee's productivity, resolve problems, has authority to change work roles and work distribution. Responsible for genuine input regarding Human Resources matters of significance e.g. participates in selection of new employees, provides meaningful input to performance appraisals, disciplinary actions, terminations etc
