Essential Job Functions:
Under the supervision of the Chief Financial Officer ensures accuracy of denial reporting to include investigation and root cause analysis of denials, management of the appeals process with payers, and subsequent reporting to appropriate persons within the facility and corporate office. Responsible for tracking denials workflow, timeliness of appeals and subsequent follow-up. Holds revenue cycle vendor accountable for denials and underpayment workflows. Review Chargemaster for compliance and departmental education to managers


Education/Licensing: RHIA, RHIT, CCS or CCS-P credential from AHIMA, or CIC from the AAPC preferred.


Qualifications/Skills/Experience: Prior medical record review and denials management experience in a hospital acute care setting preferred. Extensive knowledge of ICD-10 & CPT coding, DRG methodology, and documentation requirements for reimbursement. Thorough understanding of Medicare rules and regulations. Aptitude in the use of computer applications, including MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). Excellent written communication skills. Ability to efficiently review large volumes of documents with high comprehension level.
