- Operate highly sophisticated x-ray equipment for specialized diagnostic procedures.
- Perform dynamic and specialized scans of various body parts and organs as ordered.
- Provide radiation protection and adhere to Universal Precautions for safety.
- Assist physicians during procedures and administer contrast materials when necessary.
- Ensure patient safety by diligently checking identification and allergies.
- Prepare sterile fields and perform biopsy drainage studies as needed.
- Develop films and adjust automatic film processing equipment as workload demands.
- Communicate effectively with patients, providing reassurance and support throughout procedures.
- Perform basic patient care, attending to both physical and psychological needs.
- Initiate life-supporting measures if necessary and maintain CPR certification.
- Participate in holiday coverage as required, ensuring continuity of care.
- Utilize HIS computer system for recording complete and incomplete procedures.
- Detect and report any equipment malfunctions, ensuring timely resolution.
- Complete laboratory records and reports accurately.
- Copy pertinent clinical information from Medical Records to radiology request forms.
- Comply with safety regulations, departmental policies, and hospital protocols.
- Participate in on-the-job training and departmental in-service programs.
- Follow infection control policies and procedures, including Universal Precautions.
- Review CQI Quarterly reports and contribute ideas for Quality Improvement initiatives.

Summary
CT Scan/MRI Technologist performs skilled work in Computerized Tomography, dealing with computerized scans and using complex equipment in completing specialized diagnostic studies.
Responsibilities
Experience
Generally requires 3 to 5 years of related experience.
Education
Graduation from an accredited Radiologic Technology program is required.
Skill
Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work accurately while meeting multiple deadlines. Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form. Ability to handle difficult and stressful situations with critical thinking and professional composure. Ability to understand and follow instructions. Ability to exercise sound and independent judgment. Knowledge and skill in use of job appropriate technology and software applications. Must meet and maintain current all unit specific and organizational skills/competencies, certifications/licensures, as required by the nursing area.
Credentials
Valid Florida State license as a radiology technologist is required. Employees hired BEFORE 2/1/17 must obtain required CT and MRI certification through the ARRT by Employees hired AFTER 2/1/2017 who have completed training must obtain their required certification within six months of hire for each modality; a total of twelve months allowed. American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) and any additional applicable life support certification for Healthcare Providers is required upon hire with at least 6 months validity and maintenance at JHS for the duration of employment.
Working Conditions
Physical Requirements - Job function requires extended standing or walking. Must be able to carry objects weighing 21 to 50 pounds. Able to lift or move objects weighing 51 to 100 pounds with the use of appropriate devices. Jobs in this group require frequent visual acuity to perform activities related to extended use of computers.
