    Summary



    This full time Oncology Registered Nurse (RN), Specialty Care Integrated Clinical Community (ICC), is a clinical expert who uses advanced specialized knowledge and judgement for delivery of high quality and evidence-based care to oncology patients and their families at the Fargo VA Medical Center. ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Certificate is required for this position within 6 months of hire and must maintain active certification for the duration of the role.

    ** Position requires travel.

    The VA Midwest Health Care Network advocates for a Whole Health System of care in each of the Medical Centers.     This position will be expected to do Oncology outreach clinic to include infusions with the interdisciplinary team to community-based outreach clinics (CBOCs) to include but not limited to Jamestown, ND, Grafton, ND, Grand Forks, ND, Bemidji, MN and Fergus Falls, MN CBOCs. The registered nurse will provide peers with informal constructive feedback for improvement. Foster a safe and supportive environment conducive to the professional development of healthcare professionals. Share educational findings, experiences, and ideas with peers. Question clinical practices for the purpose of providing evidence-based care. Participate in activities and strategies to sustain an evidence-based-practice culture. This position will require up to 75% travel, based on the Veteran needs within the Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs).

    ** Position requires travel. Applicant will be required to provide their license at the time of interview, a clean driving record report from the DMV during the online onboarding process, and a driving physical.

    The primary duties for the Oncology RN position include, but are not limited to, the following:

    • Uses a team approach to identify, analyze, and resolve patient care problems with measurable outcomes.
    • Completes physiological assessments and completes documentation in the electronic health record (EHR) in accordance to established policies and procedures.
    • Triages patient problems and assists in the evaluation of symptoms and initiate interventions in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.
    • Monitors, tracks/tends, and reports ongoing care needs and outcomes to the interdisciplinary team.
    • They direct the provision of nursing education, orientation, competencies, and providing quality improvement and outcome utilization.
    • They provide a safe working environment while administering, handling, and disposing of antineoplastic drugs and medical waste.
    • They oversee the administration and management of various medical procedures and treatments in the oncology setting, including vascular access devices and infusion treatments.
    • Conducts in-service education based on insights gained from oncology professional development activities and acquiring specialized skills in oncology-specific areas, including chemotherapy administration, oncology electronic ordering systems, and calculating drug dosages.
    • Manages monitoring requirements for specific drugs, handling immediate infusion reactions, and preventing and managing oncology-related symptoms and adverse events, such as chemo-related symptoms and immune-related adverse events.
    Pay: Competitive salary, regular salary increases, potential for performance awards

    Paid Time Off: 50 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year)

    Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA

    Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory

    Work Schedule: Monday through Friday; 7:30 am to 4:00 pm
