Ingredient Processing Lead
We are seeking an Ingredient Processing Lead to oversee the daily operations of ingredient preparation for beverage production. In this hands-on, floor-based role, you will ensure precise ingredient measurements, proper material handling, and accurate batch documentation while adhering to safety and GMP standards. Your leadership will be crucial in maintaining the quality and consistency of our products.
What You'll Do
- Lead and support team members in accurately measuring and staging raw ingredients for production batches, ensuring adherence to formulas and recipes.
- Verify batch builds using batch sheets and SOPs, maintaining accuracy and traceability throughout the compounding/blending process.
- Oversee compounding and blending steps to guarantee adherence to quality standards, intervening to correct errors and prevent waste.
- Confirm lot tracking, ingredient verification, and proper labeling of staged materials to maintain full traceability.
- Collaborate with Quality and Production teams to ensure that batches meet specifications prior to release and use, addressing any discrepancies promptly.
- Uphold clean and organized processing areas, aligning with GMP and sanitation expectations to maintain a safe and compliant environment.
- Address batching errors, such as incorrect ingredients, weights, or shortages, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Provide training to team members on the safe handling of ingredients, scales, and batching systems, promoting a culture of safety and compliance.
Qualifications
Required Skills
- Bachelor's Degree.
- Demonstrated experience in weighing, batching, blending, mixing, compounding, or formulation processes.
- Proficiency in reading and accurately following batch records, recipes, and formulas.
- Keen attention to detail in measurements, lot codes, and traceability procedures.
- Basic computer skills for maintaining batch records and production documentation.
Preferred Skills
- Background in food, beverage, CPG, chemical, pharmaceutical, or cosmetics manufacturing.
- Prior leadership experience, such as a lead, trainer, or supervisor role.
- Familiarity with GMP, HACCP, SQF/FSSC, or FDA-regulated environments.
- Experience with scales, floor scales, precision measuring equipment, totes/drums, and transfer pumps.
- ERP system experience (e.g., System21, SAP, Oracle).
- Forklift/pallet jack experience (or willingness to train).
