- Perform field testing, inspections, investigations, and assessments accurately and proficiently.
- Prepare inspection and field observation reports.
- Investigate buildings and structures and convey recommendations for improvements and/or repairs to project leader.
- Participate in construction administration and observation as requested by project leader.
- Coordinate and communicate clearly, effectively, and professionally internally with team and project leader along with external consultants, contractors, clients, owners, and other SKA disciplines.
- Attend design coordination meetings with team members and client representatives, as necessary.
- Assist in preparation of proposals and bidding documents.
- Assist project leaders in the development of drawings, sketches, specifications, and sections for project layouts and contract documents, as needed.
- Participate in peer reviews.
- Demonstrate a desire to advance technical and project management knowledge and skills.
- Actively participate in professional organizations where the technical reputation and image of the firm may be enhanced.
- Employee must be able to travel to jobsites as needed, up to 30%-40% of the time, including overnight periodically.

Job Description
Job DescriptionDescription:The primary responsibility of the Building Envelope Engineer, EI is to assist project leaders with building and materials testing, investigations, assessments, and construction administration. In this position, the employee will also assist in the preparation of deliverables; document observed conditions; prepare testing/observation reports and condition assessments for a wide variety of projects and clients.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Education and/or Experience
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (structural or materials science major) from four-year college or university. Relevant internship(s) and/or experience preferred. Basic knowledge of construction documents, practices, terminology, and materials.
Certifications, Licenses, Registrations
Valid driver's license. Passed or registered for the Fundamentals of Engineering Exam. Must be able to complete required OSHA training. Willingness to pursue certifications through ICRI and/or IIBEC.
Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Internet. Working knowledge of construction document software, such as AutoCAD and Revit, is preferred. Familiarity with Bluebeam is a plus.

While performing the duties of this job in the office, must be able to sit and/or stand; walk; talk and hear. The employee must have the ability to work on a computer. While working on a job site, will frequently be required to stand and walk and will occasionally be required to bend, stoop, squat, crouch, kneel and crawl; perform overhead work, climb ladders and lift and/or move up to fifty pounds. Employee must be physically capable of working on a construction site, on scaffolds, at heights and in tight spaces with the aptitude to assemble and operate testing equipment and use construction tools.
