    Qualifications Required:
    1. Valid Washington State Teacher's Certificate

    2. Endorsement in Special Education
    3. Satisfactory Evaluations

    Qualifications Preferred:
    1. Evidence of the ability to motivate and instruct students of all ability levels with emphasis on providing for their individual learning needs in the special education classroom.

    3. Demonstrated success in managing and modifying disruptive student behaviors, executive functioning deficits, and social/personal/responsibility behaviors that may be associated with students with Autism.
    4. Evidence of maintaining a positive, productive learning climate within the classroom as well as with parents and colleagues.
    5. Demonstrated leadership in professional activities related to special education.
    6. Punctual and consistent attendance.

    Job Description:
    1. Be responsible for the educational programming of students with special education needs including autism in preschool.
    2. Prepare for classes assigned and show written evidence of preparation upon request.
    3. Collect data for ESY goal areas identified on individualized education programs (IEP's).
    4. Regularly monitor the progress of students, making changes in programming if appropriate.
    5. Assume responsibility for productive use of a classroom educational assistants.
    6. Establish and maintain cooperative professional relationships with others.

    7. Attend and participate in summer school meetings.
    8. Assist in upholding and enforcing school rules and administrative regulations.
    9. Maintain the confidentiality of student and family information.

    10. Work with school and district level experts in designing a personal, social, and responsibility program to best fit the needs to the students in the program
    11. Perform other duties as assigned.

    Lifting: The employee must be able to lift or move up to 50 lbs. regularly and occasionally up to 100 lbs; must also be able to lift overhead. The employee may be required to physically move quickly in an emergency or while performing student supervision duties.

    Physical Hazards: While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to work outdoors in a wide variety of temperatures; from -10 degrees F to 100 degrees F +. The employee may be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions. The noise level in this work environment is moderate.

    Application Procedure: In-District staff must complete an internal online application by 10:00 (PST) on or before the closing date. In-building/In-district staff will have eight school days, or eight working days during the summer to apply for a vacant position through the online application system. The employee may choose but will not be required to meet with the building administrator to understand the building practices, procedures and initiatives specific to the position to which they are applying. After eight days if an in-building employee is qualified for the position, the principal will offer the employee the position. In the case that more than one in-building employee is interested in a position, the position will be offered to the qualified and senior employee. If a position is not filled in-building after the eight day period, the position will be offered to the qualified, most senior in-district applicant, if any. Teachers with a summative evaluation score of 1 or 2 are not eligible to transfer unless agreed upon by the District and Association.

    Out-of-District applicants must complete the online District application and attach a letter of interest, resume, valid Washington state teaching credential, and copies of transcripts with degree posted. All hires are subject to completion of a satisfactory criminal background check.
