    MCC is currently seeking a JOURNEYMAN WELDER.

    The individual is responsible for permanently fitting and welding various metals including but not limited to; steel, aluminum, and stainless steel parts using high-heat application to form a permanentbond.

    May specialize in one of the hundreds of different processes of welding to join metals together. Certification may be required depending on job specifications.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIESRead blueprints and drawings and take or read measurements to plan layout and proceduresBe proficient in MIG (GMAW), TIG (GTAW), and Stick (SMAW) as requiredDetermine the appropriate welding equipment or method based on requirementsSet up components for welding according to specifications (e.g.

    cut material with powered saws to match measurements)


    Operate angle grinders to prepare the parts that must be weldedAlign components using calipers, rulers etc., and clamp piecesWeld components using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment in various positions (vertical, horizontal or overhead)Repair machinery and other components by welding pieces and filling gapsTest and inspect welded surfaces and structures to discover flawsMaintain equipment in a condition that does not compromise safetyDetermine the welding position and type of metal to be fusedEnsure welds meet standards and specificationsSupervise machines or robots that perform automated welding tasksOperate heavy equipment and machinery in the performance of these essential dutiesWork with and around hazardous materials, as well as at heights and in confined spaces in the performance of these essential dutiesDrive a vehicle to various job sites throughout working hours and maintain a valid driver's license and a driving record that meets company policyWork in a constant state of alertness and in a safe mannerRegular attendance and punctuality are essential for employee job performancePerform other duties as assigned RequirementsENVIRONMENT, PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTSExposure to varying indoor and outdoor conditions, loud noise, dust, toxic chemicals and materials, varying fumes or odors; slippery or uneven walking surfaces; and work in ditches/excavationsWork at heights, such as by working on ladders, scaffolds, platforms, and tops of single and multi-story buildings, as well as working in confined spaces such as underneath single-story and multi-story buildingsMust be able to perform manual and repetitive tasks and body movements including standing and/or walking for long periods of time, bending, reaching, and/or gripping frequently, climbing, pulling, and pushingMust be able to lift up to 125lbsMay lift and carry heavy objects, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl in awkward positionsMust be able to complete job duties proficiently while adapting to changing demands and prioritiesMust have the ability to work in a constant state of alertness and concentrate for long periods of time to perform duties in a safe mannerThis position is subject to ergonomic testingSAFETY SENSITIVEThis position is designated as a safety-sensitive position because it includes as part of the job duties operating a motor vehicle, operating, maintaining, and monitoring of heavy equipment and machinery, and working with and around hazardous materials, atheights, and in confined spaces.

    SKILLS AND COMPETENCIESHigh school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferredWelders certification may be required depending on job specificationsKnowledge of welding, structural brake forming, and other fabrication processes along with automated welding techniquesAbility to communicate clearly with other employeesAll employees must provide and maintain the required tool inventory for this positionGood organizational and time-management skillsAbility to complete daily tasks with limited supervision and minimal errors requiring re-workAbility and willingness to work overtime and non-standard schedule:
