    The Bard Conservatory Preparatory Division, since its founding in the fall of 2007, has offered high quality music education to young musicians in the Hudson Valley and its environs. The Preparatory Division has 26 part-time faculty, a small part-time administrative support staff, and enrollment of approximately 165 students, aged three to eighteen. Its offerings include private instruction in piano, voice, violin, viola, cello, double bass, flute, clarinet, saxophone, trombone, euphonium, percussion, guitar, and composition. It also offers musicianship classes, ensembles, and early childhood music education classes. The Preparatory Division is based in the beautiful László Z. Bitó Conservatory building on the Bard College campus. During the school year it offers Saturday instruction in two 15-week semesters, and in the summer, it offers a two-week long day camp.

    The director of the Preparatory Division, with the assistance of the part-time staff, is responsible for all elements of the preparatory programs. They include:

    ● The hiring and supervision of faculty and administrative staff, including the management of the travel logistics and reimbursement for faculty commuting from New York City.
    ● The oversight of students
    –Managing and maintaining registration for new and returning students.
    –Assigning students to teachers and ensembles
    –Determine class placement (Musicianship and Chamber Music) on a semester basis
    ● Administering and managing scheduling and logistics of Bard Prep activities during the academic year and during the two-week long summer camp. This includes private lessons, classes, auditions, juries, and recitals.
    ● Managing and overseeing finances:
    –Responsible for creation and balancing of operational budgets
    –Manage cash flow, expenses, reimbursement and budgets.
    –Generating invoices and collecting tuition payments on a semester basis
    –Manage payroll hours for Faculty, Accompanists, College/Conservatory Student Workers
    ● Oversight of the Prep Division website
    ● Leading development efforts for the Preparatory Division
    –Organize fundraising events
    –Cultivate donors within the Bard Prep community
    –Develop new fundraising initiatives
    ● Cultivating community outreach events.

    This is a full-time position with benefits. It requires presence on-campus for Saturday teaching days during the academic year and during the two-week long Preparatory Division Summer Camp. The director may work remotely when presence on campus is not required.

    Qualifications
    Bachelor's of Music is required. Master's preferred.

    Salary range: $58,500 – $60,000

    This salary range reflects the College's good faith and reasonable estimate of the compensation for the position at the time of the job posting. Salary decisions are dependent on several factors including but not limited to market and organizational considerations, experience, and qualifications of a selected candidate as well as internal and external equity.
