    Naval Architect

    Job Summary:

    This position will collaborate with the SWBS Lead to develop, integrate, and test the completed designs. Will also create new vessel concept designs as well as structural, hydrostatic, hydrodynamic, vibration, weight, and stability analysis.

    Responsibilities:

    -Creates content for presentations to US Coast Guard (USCG) Customer

    -Develop budgets and schedules, manage performance, report progress,

    and initiates action to assure program/project objectives and schedules are met

    -Sea testing and trials report writing and support

    -System life-cycle activities – including System Requirements Review (SRR), System Design Review (SDR), Preliminary Design Review (PDR) and Detailed/Critical Design Review (DDR/CDR)

    -Create ShipConstructor 3D models and associated 2D drawings/schematics in accordance with company, industry, and project standards

    -Partner with Weight Manager to monitor and control the weight of the systems to meet design targets

    -Develop engineering deliverables in accordance with engineering processes, ensure safe, fit for purpose engineering deliverables, and present material associated with the above life-cycle reviews

    -Create and Review Engineering Change Notifications to formally release design data

    -Release drawings into Product Life Cycle Management system following company workflow

    -Create engineering reports to show compliance with project requirements based on design, test, analysis, and similarity

    -Create product illustrated parts diagrams and write product manuals

    -Contribute to the continuous improvement of the department by creating work instructions for best practices as well as mentoring/training junior engineers/designers

    Requirements:

    -Bachelor's degree in Naval Architecture, 10+ years of experience in propulsion, hydraulic, fuel, water, and mechanical systems

    -Experience leading small teams of engineers

    -Experience with government procurement and contracting

    -Proficient in MS Office, Project

    -Knowledge ShipConstructor, AutoCAD

    -Understanding of the project management process as defined by the PMI

    PMBOK

    -Able to use mathematics to solve problems and possess analytical skills
