    Description

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:


    The Charge Entry Specialist will be responsible for charge entry of medical procedures and services rendered as coded out by Medical Certified Coders.

    Accurately enter charges into Practice Management system, ensuring that all required information is complete and accurate for clean claim submission.

    Identifies and resolves any discrepancies or errors related to charge entry.
    Communicates with our Coding Team to obtain missing or incomplete information.
    Participates in meetings and educational workshops to maintain up-to-date knowledge of billing and coding guidelines, regulations, and compliance requirements.
    Assist with missing encounter audits and reviews as needed.
    Perform other duties as assigned by Coding Supervisor or Office Manager.


    KNOWLEDGE:


    Knowledge of computersKnowledge of medical terminologyKnowledge of CPT, ICD-10, HCPCS code assignmentsKnowledge of health information management and HIPAA standardsKnowledge of medical/disease coding principles; legal aspects/confidentiality; accreditation standards, Medicare, Medicaid, state and federal regulations governing health information/medical records.

    Disease processes and medical proceduresCollection and interpretation of administrative and clinical statistics.


    EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
    High school graduate or equivalent.

    Minimum of 2 years of experience in medical charge entry, coding and/or billing, with a working knowledge of CPT, HCPCS, ICD-10 codes and modifiers.
