    What you'll do:


    The Dev Team Eng Group Leader position is responsible for supporting the Engineering Director by identifying and completing the development team activities assigned to the group, as well as resource planning and talent development.


    Support Engineering Director with identifying, prioritizing, and completing development team activities for designing experiments, supporting prototype builds, verifying and validating products, and field, service and production issue resolution
    Provide technical guidance or direction to team members
    Provide input for periodic assessments of job performance including annual performance reviews
    Maintain department resource planning tools, identifying requirements and/or adjustments based on current and forecasted workload
    Train, or facilitate the training of, new associates in all aspects of their job
    Manage vacation approvals, time card approval, daily and weekly overtime, hiring, and training
    Motivate, coach, reward, and discipline associates being supervised; resolve personnel issues
    Communicate effectively at all levels of the organization and with cross-functional teams (production, service garage, engineering, etcetera) to resolve issues and ensure objectives are met
    Perform duties similar to those of direct reports (approximately fifty percent of the time), such as:
    Create engineering drawings, schematics, and other technical material for the purpose of conducting experiments and tests
    Design tests to ensure device under test (DUT) meets design requirements
    Design and/or procure test fixtures for component or system testing
    Write test procedures
    Configure data acquisition systems for the collection of data during tests
    Select and/or specify test appropriate equipment to be used for a test or experiment
    Determine measurement uncertainty
    Oversee tests being conducted
    Collect road load data
    Analyze/process collected data
    Write test report
    Support proof of concept and prototype builds, including coordination of materials (e.g. procurement, assembly, and fabrication of components)

    Prepare for, and conduct, design experiments and or verification and validation tests, per the design verification plan and report (DVP&R) and/or direct instruction.

    Communicate with cross-functional teams (manufacturing, materials, purchasing, sales, etcetera) to resolve issues and meet objectives
    Use basic hand, electric, cordless, and pneumatic tools, as required
    Provide direction to Technicians, as needed, to support assigned activities
    Solve complex problems
    Complete proper forms and documentation
    Other duties as assigned


    What you need to be successful:

    Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Engineering or Technology
    Minimum of five years engineering experience related to the design and development of on-highway, heavy truck, specialty, or automotive vehicles
    Possess a CDL, or be willing to obtain
    Self-motivated with the ability to effectively lead an engineering team with minimal direct supervision
    Positive attitude
    Creative and innovative team player
    Commitment to excellence and high standards
    Sound judgment with the ability to make timely decisions
    Able to effectively prioritize and execute multiple concurrent assignments in a high-pressure environment
