    Description

    Veliz Construction is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead construction operations in our Austin office. This role is responsible for managing multiple projects from preconstruction through closeout, ensuring work is delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards with a heavy emphasis on governmental contracts at federal, state, and local level (90% government/10% private).

    The ideal candidate is a strong leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment, builds lasting relationships with clients and project partners, and supports field teams through effective planning, coordination, and execution.

    Job Summary

    The Project Manager (PM) will safely manage and ensure completion of multiple construction projects, including resources, self-perform activities, budgets, schedules, financial tracking, and stakeholder coordination. The PM plays a key role in supporting superintendents and project teams through long-term planning and proactive issue resolution.

    This position may require on-site leadership for small to medium complex projects and will serve as a key representative of Veliz Construction in the Austin region.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Manage construction projects up to $5 million
    • Oversee and coordinate multiple projects concurrently
    • Direct and mentor Project Engineers under supervision
    • Coordinate project execution closely with Project Superintendents
    • Develop and price change orders accurately
    • Generate, maintain, and update project construction schedules
    • Develop, negotiate, and execute subcontracts and purchase orders
    • Plan and execute project activities in alignment with schedule milestones
    • Create, monitor, and analyze project budgets and cost reports
    • Track and process monthly payment applications for clients and subcontractors
    • Manage project documentation including RFIs, submittals, change orders, and logs
    • Lead project closeout preparation and execution

    Required Qualifications

    • Minimum 5 years of proven construction project management experience
    • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or related field
    • Strong commitment to jobsite safety and relationship-building
    • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
    • Ability to manage priorities and maintain workflow in a fast-paced environment

    Preferred Experience

    • Experience with government contracts (a plus)
    • Familiarity with delivery methods such as Design-Build, CMR, and JOC
    • Lean Construction principles and methodologies
    • OSHA 30 certification preferred
    • Working knowledge of tools such as RS Means and Gordian

    Travel Requirement

    • Approximately 20% travel required depending on project needs
