    Description

    Summary



    This intermittent registered nurse (staff nurse) is directly responsible to the designated manager in the assigned area RN Float Pool; the registered nurse is responsible and accountable for the provision of direct patient care and for the delivery of quality nursing care to a culturally diverse veteran patient population that reflect the educational, experiential and competency requirements.

    The registered nurse possesses basic knowledge and skills to apply all aspects of the nursing process within a collaborative, interdisciplinary practice setting which will then enable effective implementation of health promotion and prevention practices, management of acute and chronic illnesses, and attainment of optimal levels of functioning and/or support of the dying patient and significant others.

    The nurse assures leadership responsibility to assure overall effectiveness of the work area and meeting required standards. The nurse is responsible for his/her actions as a licensed professional.

    Float pool staff is utilized to augment the full-time and part-time permanent staff and will work 50% non-administrative tours as needed/requested.

    Non-administrative tours are defined as 3:30 p.m. to 12:00 midnight, 12:00 midnight to 8:00 a.m. or other approved evening/night shift configurations, and any tour on Saturday, Sunday and holidays.

    The RN can expect to be assigned to any RN position for which there is a need to include but not limited to:
    Medical/Surgical, Emergency Department, Critical Care Areas, and Ambulatory Procedural Areas.


    Pay Scale:
    NN54


    Pay: Competitive salary, regular salary increases, potential for performance awards


    Paid Time Off: 50 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year)


    Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA
