    Green Bay Oncology is a locally based, private oncology practice that partners with hospital systems in Northeast Wisconsin and Michigan's Upper Peninsula to provide exceptional care and cancer treatment to patients throughout the region. We are currently looking for a dedicated Breast Surgical Oncology Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to join our team. Play an important role in the patient-experience by assessing and managing patients in a truly care-centered clinic environment.

    The APP is responsible for assisting surgeons in the operating room, inpatient hospital, and outpatient clinic with general surgical procedures and provides continuity of care by managing patient care in pre-, intra-, and post-operative settings. The APP performs and/or coordinates patient care in collaboration with physicians and other healthcare providers along the continuum of care. The APP demonstrates advanced practice skills through assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of complex oncology patients. The APP requires advanced knowledge where discretion and judgment are utilized daily.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Assists with surgical procedures, (including in the operating room, at the bedside, and clinic).
    • Evaluates treatment and health care plans for effectiveness and modifies clinical standards and practice protocols.
    • Writes orders related to prescriptions, fluids or supplemental medication, transfusions, and hospital admission.
    • Orders appropriate laboratory and diagnostic procedures. Ensures test results are obtained and physician is aware of results.
    • Recommends therapeutic plan specific to diagnosis, treatments and management of acute symptoms related to disease or treatment.
    • Interprets and integrates data to determine preliminary diagnosis and therapeutic plan.
    • Pursuant to physician's evaluation, provides patient education, treatment plans, disease progression, prognosis, and treatment options.
    • Responds to questions regarding surgical and oncology services provided and refers to physician when appropriate.
    • Collaborates with physicians in managing acute and long-term surgical and medical needs of patients.
    • Provides monitoring and continuity of care between physician visits.
    • Instructs patient/family regarding medications and treatments, including detailed preoperative and postoperative care.
    • Educates patients regarding health and illness prevention. Recommends community resources to meet patient and family needs.
    • Communicates with and refers patients to multidisciplinary teams, including social and nutritional services, genetics, plastic surgery, rehabilitation, research staff and outside providers, including home care agencies.
    • Coordinates implementation of clinical research studies or clinical trials, including patient screening, enrollment, and data collection. Maintenance of CITI research certification is expected.
    • Assists in the preparation, implementation, and evaluation of research protocols when applicable.
    • Provides complete documentation according to practice and coding guidelines.
    • Manages surgical and medical emergencies.
    • Triages patient telephone calls and provides consultation.
    • Perform hospital rounds as directed by physician.
    • Maintains patient confidentiality.
    • Attends required meetings and committees as requested, including weekly tumor board.
    • Participates in professional development activities and maintains professional affiliations.

    • Performs related work as assigned.

    QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

    • Current certification or licensure as a physician assistant (PA-C) or nurse practitioner (NP).
    • At least one year of Advanced Practice Provider experience, preferably in surgical care or relevant oncology experience.
    • Experience in an oncology setting preferred.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:

    • Occasionally lift up to 10 lbs
    • Rarely move a maximum of 50 lbs. Rarely push/pull up to 25 pounds
    • Frequently stand; use hands to finger, handle, and feel; reach with hands and arms
    • Requires close visual acuity, and ability to speak and hear are required.
    • Occasionally sit, stoop, kneel and crouch
    • Sit or stand for prolonged periods of time
    • Work is generally performed in an office or hospital setting
    • Evening and/or weekend work; extended hours and irregular shifts may be required
    • High level of mental concentration is required.
