    Plymouth-Canton is seeking to employ culturally responsive educators who will be able to support and sustain equity-focused instruction for all learners. These educators create high achieving learning environments. They identify and systematically apply differentiated instruction and assessment that improves achievement for all learners from all racial groups. Candidates must be able to demonstrate knowledge of effective leadership practices, instruction, analysis of appropriate data, and be able to design and implement appropriate responses based on results.

    QUALIFICATIONS:
    1. Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with at least one special education endorsement. Speech and Language license is acceptable.
    2. Masters degree required.
    3. Three years field experience in an educational setting.
    4. Professional communication and interpersonal skills.
    5. Extensive experience with and knowledge of assistive technology and its use in classrooms.
    6. Extensive experience with and knowledge of curriculum adaptations and special education alternative assessment.
    7. Demonstrated record of collaborative teamwork.
    8. Proficient skills in written communication and interpersonal skills.
    9. Demonstrate capacity in following areas:
    • AT Evaluations
    • Technology support and training
    • Instructional software and equipment
    • Coordinate, update, acquire, test and install AT devices and technology solutions.
    1. Knowledge of MI State Standards, Common Core Standards, and MI Extended GLCE's using data and research to inform practice.
    2. Experience in serving as a resource to school based staff, including administrators, relative to all alternate assessment program issues and concerns.
    3. Experience in application of instructional curriculum and knowledge of writing IEP Goals and objectives for students who participate in alternate assessment.
    PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
    1. Collaborates with others in the planning, facilitation and coordination of alternate assessments with new teachers, special education staff, parents, and administrators.
    2. Participates in cooperative planning and establishes and maintains open communication with parents, staff, administrators, outside agencies, special education ancillary personnel, UDL coaches and paraprofessionals, and parents of individuals with disabilities involved.
    3. Participates as a member of the Individualized Educational Planning Team (IEPT) when appointed by Superintendent/Designee.
    4. Maintains a cooperative, harmonious relationship with professionals and others within the school setting which fosters recognition and respect for every individual.
    5. Works with school-based administrators and policies and procedures to ensure the provision of services to all eligible students as required by State mandates.
    6. Assists teachers in implementing instructional activities/materials aligned with the MI State Standards, Common Core Standards, and MI Extended GLCE's.
    7. Supports teachers in adapting curriculum and instruction to meet the individual needs of students taking Alternate Assessment.
    8. Models use of AT device in lessons to increase transfer of instructional skills and behavioral strategies to teachers.
    9. Serves as a resource and continuing liaison to students and staff for the purpose of providing the latest technology options, ensuring tasks are completed and/or providing task analysis processes.
    10. Maintains documents, files and records (e.g. site license information, usage logs, inventory, etc.) for the purpose of providing up-to-date reference and audit trail.
    11. Maintains inventories of supplies and materials for the purpose of ensuring items availability to meet students' needs.
    12. Prepares written materials (e.g. product evaluations, procedures, instructions, memos, letters, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities, providing written reference and/or conveying information.
    13. Provides technical assistance and training to school staff, students, and family for the purpose of ensuring their ability to use new and/or existing Assistive Technology and collaborating with appropriate Instructional Technology and Assistive Technology staff.
    14. Follows district technology procedures regarding licensing and installation of software.
    15. Provides technical assistance to school based program personnel and administrators in support of Alternate Assessment program implementation.
    16. Becomes familiar with and assists with instructional programs and/or curriculum presently being used in the Plymouth Canton Community Schools.
    17. Adapts and repairs specialized assistive devices to individual student needs (e.g. adjusting equipment, keyboards, communication devices, configuring software, etc.) for the purpose of enhancing learning opportunities.
    18. Transports a variety of items (e.g. devices, equipment, building supplies, etc.) for the purpose of providing materials in classroom or transporting equipment for repair and/or modification.
    19. Researches assistive devices, computer hardware and software applications, vendors, consultants, etc. for the purpose of being knowledgeable on trends and recommending acquisitions.
    20. Follows all established policies, practices, and procedures in terms of duties and responsibilities of the position as delegated by the supervisor/building principal.
    21. Bending, lifting, overhead work required.
    22. Respects, safeguards and promotes cultural diversity.
    23. Develop/provide professional development for synchronous and asynchronous learning.
    24. Other Duties as assigned by the Executive Director of Specialized Student Services.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision such as to read handwritten or typed material, and the ability to adjust focus.
