    K?STA I.T is actively seeking a Database Administrator foran immediate contract engagement with our government client.

    Work Location: This position is hybrid.

    Job Description:

    We are seeking a Database Administrator (DBA) to join our team with expertise in maintaining and optimizing Sybase and SQL Server environments. This full-time position entails 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, with two onsite days (including mandatory Wednesdays) and participation in a weekend on-call rotation. Overtime is rare and requires prior approval. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to a transitioning database environment, where you will play a key role in optimizing performance, ensuring data integrity, and supporting future business needs.     Responsibilities:
    • Research, recommend, and implement database standards and policies.
    • Coordinate with vendors to resolve technical issues.
    • Align emerging technologies with business needs.
    • Establish space allocation standards and calculate disk space requirements.
    • Analyze database capacity and forecast future needs.
    • Troubleshoot database integrity issues and optimize database performance.
    • Install and maintain database management software and patches.
    • Implement security measures and encryption strategies.
    • Assist with database migrations and disaster recovery processes.
    • Monitor and troubleshoot scheduled processes and job performance.
    • Document tuning procedures and provide root cause analysis.
    Required Skills:
    • Experience in formal change control environments.
    • Strong troubleshooting skills.
    • Unix background with CRON job development and command line experience.
    • Familiarity with Sybase ASE 15.7 or similar.
    • Proficiency in Windows Server and SQL Server.
    • Ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment.
    • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
    • Experience with database migration from Sybase to SQL Server.
    • Knowledge of database clusters and disaster recovery procedures.
    • Familiarity with Azure or cloud-based database environments.
    • Understanding of PCI compliance and security standards.
    • Scripting skills for automation tasks.
    Nice to Have:
