    The Registered Nurse is a key player in the delivery of care consistent with the Recovery Model.

    This position explains illness, symptoms, courses of treatment and hope for the future and begins to teach the individual about the use and benefits of personal recovery and prevention of relapse.

    This position informs the individual of benefits of active treatment, including medication and the intended and unintended effects and ensures that the individual is educated about choices and resources available.

    Along with ensuring a safe environment for all, he or she develops with each individual a therapeutic relationship which is critical in the healing process.

    This position assures that the patient is educated about his rights regarding care, privacy, safety, confidentiality of medical records, Baker Act and the right to be free from inappropriate use of restraint and seclusion.

    This position demonstrates and role models the use of de-escalation and uses interpersonal skills to calm patients involved in potential conflict.

    This position manages individualized, goal-directed nursing care through use of the nursing process and the principles of primary nursing in accordance with departmental and hospital policies and procedures.
