Humboldt Sawmill Company (HSC) is seeking a Relief Machine Operator 2 for Swing shift (Mon-Fri, 3:30pm-12:00am) to join our team in Scotia, CA This is a non exempt position at an hourly rate of $29.75 and includes benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance and 401K Match.

The Mendocino Companies (Mendocino Forest Products Company, Mendocino Redwood Company, Humboldt Redwood Company, Humboldt Sawmill Company, and Allweather Wood) own nearly 450,000 acres of Forest Stewardship Council (FSC C certificated redwood and Douglas-fir timberland, constitute the largest waterborne wood treater in the Western USA, and is the largest producer of redwood lumber in the world. Responsibilities

The Relief Machine Operator is responsible for relieving production operators during breaks, vacations, and other absences.

• Relieves production operators during breaks, vacations and other absences
• Checks with Supervisor for machine assignment daily
• Inspects machine, and operates machine
• Resets and calibrates machines
• Collects reports and enters data into computers
• Checks lumber sizes and adjusts machines as necessary
• Communicates regularly with other team members and participates in team effort in work area;
• Keeps work areas clean

Qualifications

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
• One year related sawmill / planer experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
• Ability to read and understand instructions and memos
• Apply common sense and understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
• Ability to add, and subtract, two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's
