    Job Description - Training Specialist BY)Job DescriptionAn exciting opportunity exists to work as a Training Specialist at the National Center for School Mental Health within the University of Marylands Department of Psychiatry, Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry on the UMB campus. This position will lead all model implementation across the state of selected evidence-based practices.

    The position will support the State Department of Healths Coordinated Community Support Partnerships, which is a state-wide initiative focused on building school, district and state access to high quality, evidence-based practices for school mental health.

    The mission of the National Center for School Mental Health (NCSMH) is to strengthen policies and programs in school mental health to improve learning and promote success for America's youth.

    From its inception in 1995, the Center's leadership and interdisciplinary staff has promoted the importance of providing mental health services to children, adolescents, and families directly in schools and communities.

    The selected candidate will perform duties that support the mission and vision of the department.

    Essential Functions:
    Maintains expert knowledge of evidence-based practices and their component parts.
    Engages in ongoing QA of Experts work and professional development process.
    Leads regular consultation for multiple teams.
    Leads the development and executive of training programs using generally accepted methods appropriate to the training field.
    Identifies future training needs and strategies to develop training through implementation and evaluation.

    Leads the development and design of training aids such as handouts/workbooks, PowerPoint presentations, online training, and evaluation/self-test using youth and adult learning principles.

    Responsible for continuously evaluating effectiveness of training materials and revising as needed.
    Complies, analyzes, and interprets training data.
    Assists and plans complex needs assessments to ensure curricula is aligned with department and organization needs.

    Present and facilitate training programs which apply youth and adult learning concepts, effectively engage participants of varying learning needs and foster learning and implementation of best practice in the field.

    Established relationships/partnerships and collaborates with external and internal stakeholders to assess and develop long-term implementation and training plans to ensure needs are effectively met.

    Develops, recommends, modifies, and implements policies and procedures and/or methods of technical assistance to meet changing needs and requirements and enforces standards.

    Provides input on the acquisition and implementation of services offered by outside vendors for use in effective training.

    Leads all start-up and ongoing Quality Assurance and Quality Improvement activities, assesses strengths and needs, and develops plans to address needs at the level of provider and community systems.

    Experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds and demonstrates skill in understanding cultural differences.
    Other duties or tasks may be assigned on an as-needed basis.


    Qualifications Education:
    Bachelor's degree in psychiatry, social work, sociology, human development, human resources, organizational development, business, communications, or related field to program

    Preferred Education:
    Master's degree

    Experience:
    Two (2) years related training experience

    Certification/Licensure:
    Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification preferred

    Other:
    Related experience may be substituted for education.

    The Hiring Range for this position is in the mid $60,000s to mid $70,000s, commensurate with education and experience.
