Position Description
Martin K. Eby Construction Co., Inc. is currently seeking Ironworker Trainees to join our team. As a trainee, you will begin your career by working closely with experienced Ironworkers who will mentor and guide you in developing the skills necessary to become a well-rounded and capable tradesperson.
In this hands-on role, you will gain exposure to a wide range of tasks, including:

• Cutting and rigging steel components
• Hoisting and connecting structural members
• Aligning and bolting up steel assemblies
• Welding and bracing structural steel

Position Requirements
Essential Functions:

• Reliable and punctual attendance

• Determine quantities, sizes, shapes, and locations of reinforcing rods from blueprints, sketches, or oral instructions

• Hoist steel beams, girders, or columns

• Cut, bend, or weld steel pieces using metal shears, torches, or welding equipment

• Unload and position prefabricated steel units for hoisting

• Cut rods to required lengths using metal shears, hacksaws, bar cutters, or torches

• Cut and fit wire mesh or fabric, using hooked rods, and position fabric or mesh in concrete to reinforce concrete
Requirements:
To succeed as an Ironworker, candidates must be able to take direction, work effectively as part of a team, and consistently follow company safety policies and procedures. Participation in safety training programs is required. Successful individuals will also demonstrate the ability to properly maintain and operate a variety of tools and equipment, including arc and wire-feed welders, grinders, quickie saws, rebar shears, porta-band saws, cutting torches, chain falls, torque wrenches, TC impact guns, Hogan drills, and hammer drills.
Working Conditions:

• Standing and walking for long periods

• Lifting in excess of 40 lbs

• Working inside and outside in all weather and temperature conditions

• Varying noise levels that require ear protection

• Working in cramped quarters

• Frequently exposed to high places
